Some are saying this a joke, but in any case, UK: Resistance is reporting it as Sony's retail partners having a go with some peculiar ways of selling more PlayStation 3s...$922USD 500GB Gold version, anyone?

Here's a great measure of how lost and confused Sony and its collaborating "retail partners" are regarding PS3 - a novel way of charging *more* for everyone's least-favourite toss-box by making it gold. Yes, that's it. People aren't buying PS3 because it doesn't come in gold.

    The funny thing is they mention how Finland is late on the 'bling' party, so why the *bleep* not make gold PS3's for them? If people in Finland are buying it then what's the problem? Who cares about what some pre-pubescant nob head on UK-resistance thinks of it; Finland are liking the 'bling', Sony gave it to 'em. If anything this is a GOOD idea. If everyone in Thailand started loving the colour blue and it became an out-of-hand craze, people would make their shit blue and sell it there. How many gold PS3's are you seeing sold around UK and USA?
