That's right, the popular Wii Fit is going to go from just another way to lose weight and keep fit to something a whole lot more professional. Nintendo Japan plans to expand on the original product idea, leading to it becoming a link with health professionals and more.

The company is teaming up with three Japanese electronics makers to turn Wii Fit into a support tool for interacting with health care providers. Using Wii Fit and a new Wii Fit Body Check Channel, Wii owners will be able to interact directly with health professionals who will, via the internet, have access to weight and exercise data that's measured by Wii Fit. The service will also support data from Nintendo's Japan-only Lifestyle Rhythm DS title.
