Rockband Won't Be Getting 5000 Songs

Another press release screw-up, this time with Rock Band. The stories circulating around the net about 5000 or so songs being released for Rock Band turns out not to be entirely true. An update for the release reveals otherwise.

A recent Billboard article raised eyebrows by stating that Rock Band's downloadable song catalog would grow to a whopping 5,000 by the end of the year. However, Blend Games has learned that this just ain't so.

      As was I, but when you think about it, it really is kinda impossible. I mean, as someone had said before, they'd have to release around 90+ songs a week just to reach that mark. Anywho, I don't doubt that they'd reach 1000 by the end of the year. Very doable.

    I love how articles on GG sometimes converse with each other. "RB to get 5,000 songs" and then "RB won't get 5,000 songs"

    Haha I knew it. I could imagine it could get up to 1000 but not 5000.

      They'll easily get it to 1000. An average of 7 songs a week for 52 weeks, that's 364 songs a year. Add in things like full album releases and the eventual release of Rockband 3, no problem.

      But yea I knew 5000 was really pushing it. Not at all doable at their current pace.

    5000 songs would just clog up my hard drive.

    Seemed impossible but I guess I still believed it ;P

      You don't have to download everything. I only have a bit under 200 songs. Just get what you like. The great thing about having a lot of songs is you have choices. Of course if you have the PS3 you can always upgrade the HDD.

    It woul have been good, but as Jagermax said 5000 songs would just clog up peoples hard drives.

    It was a bit suspicious. I mean come on 500 songs a bit improbable isn't it?
