    Sony let go of Blu-Ray? The PS3 practically IS Blu-Ray; it's what sets it apart from the other consoles. If $399 is still too much, get a job. You had no problem buying a 360 Elite for that much, it shouldn't be a big deal now.

      I think the good exclusive games is what sets PS3 apart from other consoles. It should be the focus. I think Blu-Ray is the only thing that has held Sony back from getting the sales it should have from the beginning.

    Take the Blu-Ray out? WHy don't you just removed every PS3 console from the shelves while you're at it. If you can't afford it, then you shouldn't be buying it. Duh. Its called "saving your money", just like you would an awesome sound system, or and HD TV, or a new car. Video games are beginning to rake up as much money as Hollywood. Things are gonna be expensive. Get used to it.

    PacoDG, all of the PS3's games are ON Blu-Ray. removing it means finding a new format and excluding 21M people.

      All the current games on are blu-ray. Take it out, start using the dvd format.

      Those with the current blu-ray system will be fine. Newer games will be done on the dvd format. Past games that were blu-ray only can be offered up as downloads on a new system with a huge ass hard drive.

      In no way did I say the idea is realistic, but not impossible.

    I also don't get why the price is the issue. The PS3 has sold 21 million units which is only 7 million less than the Xbox 360 which has almost always been half the price. The Playstation 3 doesn't need to be cheaper it's catching up to the Xbox 360 regardless of cost.

    Removing the Blu-Ray is like removing motion sensing from the Wii.

    It's pretty much what makes the PS3 stand out among your average consumer.
