It would seem that retail store HMV has been taking pre-orders for a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead which they seem to think is being developed by EA and will be released on June 5th, Valve however has laughed this off.

Valve has brushed off new rumours (again) of a PS3 version of Left 4 Dead, sparked by a rather decisive listing on a UK retailer website.

I would hate to play this game on the PS3. The controller doesn't suit me for shooters and I think this one would be that much more difficult. I hope they never release this for the PS3 so it's kind of like the 360 never getting MGS4.

So... don't port a game because of controller preference? Personally I love the PS controller, a bit more than the Xbox, but I realize that it's just a preference.

I'd love to the game on Playstation, but I realize Valve are (Sadly) not committed to creating a quality product on the Playstion. That's not to say I didn't enjoy Portal on Playstion, just I realize Valve went half assed on the port.

        Valve didn't make the port.

Yeah if I was in charge I would not make shooters for PS3, as I prefer the 360 controller, it's built for shooters. I like the PS3 controller for adventure games, where the shoulder buttons aren't a primary function.

It's great you're not in charge of anything then.

Where does the "I don't like it therefore nobody else should have it" frame of mind come from?

Because, I am the world's biggest Xbox 360 fanboy ever. I make sure the 360 always one ups the PS3, always.

Anyone who ever thought L4D would appear on PS3 is deluding themselves. Everyone knows Valve wouldn't touch a PS3 with a fifty foot pole.

They would for the right amount of money.

Like with The Orange Box, except that it was EA who ported it and the online component (Team Fortress 2) played terribly to it's PC counterpart. Unpatched, bug-ridden and a lack of players really hindered it.

I for one do not want to see Left 4 Dead on PS3. Unless Valve do the port, which they won't.

        Sad truth.

No hope for episode 3 on the PS3 either.

This is one game I want to get on the PC.

Though I'd like a friggen demo, TBH. A PC demo that is.

The demo was available for download on Steam quite some time ago. I rarely log on to Stream, so I don't know if it's still up there.

It was a limited time demo. Gotta keep your ears peeled.

I don't see what Valve can get out of this mentality, they are a business and it's their business to make money. There are millions of people that want to play Left4Dead on Playstation 3 the costs of porting it will be recouped within days of release.

It's not a money thing. It's a time thing. They don't like the PS3 development software and don't wanna bother learning it.

So they allowed another company to deal with it. That company screwed it up, so now they're just gonna let it be.

Personally I like that they're not developing Left 4 Dead on a different platform. I'd much rather see Episode 3 sooner.

    Thats a shame.

Left 4 Dead is a fantastic game. Certainly one of the only things keeping my 360 alive in the 2009 period.
