As reported on GameGrep Thompson Takes it to Utah Jack Thompson authored a game bill introduced in Utah. This guy is like a bad rash. You never know when he might flare up and irritate you. I wish he would take his zeal to people that sell alcohol to underage children. There were some that thought he would slow down after being disbarred but some of us knew better. Now he has nothing to do but crusade.

Disbarred and disgraced though he may be, former attorney Jack Thompson still seems to have some traction in Utah, where he's convinced a state legislator to introduce a bill he's authored that seeks once again to regulate the sale of videogames.

Rep. Mike Morley has introduced the bill, apparently at the urging of Gayle Ruzicka, president of the conservative group Utah Eagle Forum. Thompson has "roughed out" the bill for Ruzicka, according to Glen Warchol of the Salt Lake Tribune, and apparently believes that unlike past attempts at legislating game sales, this one won't be hung up by pesky First Amendment concerns.

Whats this guys problem? I agree, he should pay more attention to the people who sell booze and drugs to kids.

Anyway, good thing I don't live in Utah.

I actually have no problems with this bill, if people are selling inappropriate games to underage kids then they should receive some sort of punishment.

Though I doubt it would seriously motivate them despite the consequences.

Already happens in UK. Doesn't make a difference people just get their parents to buy them. Plus less kids on on-line the better IMO.

Oh great. Now that Jack's name is attached to the bill, people are going to hate and attack the bill.

I think I'm right also when I say many gamers are Jack Fans because they are always so obsessed with the guy. Ignore him unless he does something important. The more hype you guys give him, the more he gets what he wants: Notoriety.

What Jack is trying to do is honorable, but the way he's going about doing it is completly off the wall, not to mention his way of thinking. If you want to protect kids, Jack, that's fine. Just don't take the rest of us down with you.

Excellent point. His antics of going after video game developers like Take Two is stupid. When a person sells alcohol to a minor they go after the seller not the companies like Jack Daniel's or Budweiser. Also blaming video games for crimes committed by sick people is just irresponsible.
