Flower: Can video games be Therapeutic?

Flower is very close to release on the Playstation network. Flower is trying to do something different, that hardly any game has tried. Flower wants to make you feel better about yourself, and enjoy your relaxing time. $10 dollars to feel better about myself is hell of lot cheaper then seeing a therapist.

thatgamecompany co-founder Jenova Chen is intensely passionate about his upcoming PlayStation Network release “Flower” and the impression he hopes it leaves on the people who interact with it, even going so far as to say “Flower” should inspire them to feel better about themselves.

Sometimes I feel relieved and happy after taking out a few ghouls in “Gears of War 2,” but video games are largely stress-based affairs. Not “Flower,” though. “Flower” intends to be the opposite.

          How exactly? Because I think a game where you control the wind to move petals is *bleep*ing stupid? You know what, really pisses me off about the gaming community, this idea where as soon as anyone ever says anything bad about a game that isn't an FPS, they're automatically a mindless shooter drone, who needs good graphics and guns to enjoy a game.

          Oh, and just for the record:

          A game where you modify your self genetically to fight off baddies. Good.
          A game where you control a blob who gets bigger by eating fruit. Good.
          A game where you control a possessed man and his descent to madness after killing someone. Good.
          A game where you control the wind. Stupid.
