The Nintendo Wii has finally reached a major milestone in console sales around the world. It's only been out for about 6 months and it's already sold almost 6 million consoles. It looks like the Wii may just win the console war.
Nintendo Wii fans have a reason to rejoice. Worldwide Wii sales have now almost made it to six million. Technically Nintendo has now sold 5.84 million Wii consoles worldwide. It really looks as if Nintendo could be winning the console - or could win the console war completely this generation.
The sales of the system have been nothing short of phenomenal. The Nintendo Wii system was launched back in November of 2006 along with The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess. Even though the system have been out for six months now, it is still nearly impossible to find a system on a store shelf. In my local town, every time I go to a Walmart or a Kmart the Nintendo Wii is always sold out. This kind of demand hasn't happened for a Nintendo system in many years.
Back when the NES was out, I got it during 1990. That was a few years after the release, but the Nintendo NES system with Super Mario Bros. and DuckHunt was nearly impossible to find. My parents gave my Aunt some money on a trip to Indianapolis to find the elusive NES set. She came back with one! The Nintendo NES sold a total of 60 million consoles worldwide during its lifetime.
Now, with the Wii Virtual Console, the Nintendo NES has regained some of its life back. Each month, Nintendo Of America releases "new" NES games on the Wii Virtual Console. They're not new really, just releases of the old games from the NES system. Now with the Wii Virtual Console you can play all your old favorites from Super Mario Brothers to The Legend Of Zelda.
