Radio host and fitness guru Michael Torchia has recently filed a lawsuit against Nintendo, as many gamers are sustaining injuries as a result of the lack of appropriate safety warnings on Wii games and products. Ten people are hospitalized every week due to injuries sustained by Wii games, and Torchia believes Nintendo are to blame for people mistaking the proper way to use the Wiimote and other Wii accessories.

Torchia also believes Nintendo are "misrepresenting their Wii games as a replacement for sensible exercise and sports activities" (namely the Wii Fit). He is additionally campainging for Nintendo to "issue a warning that these games are intended for entertainment and not to replace actual physical activity".

While he brings up some good points, is a lawsuit really neccessary?

Michael Torchia's mission is to have Nintendo pull their Wii games off the shelves until they make important changes to their products.

People around the World are sustaining serious injuries due to the lack of proper warnings on their products and Torchia is taking a stance to ensure that people are aware of the potential dangers.

In addition, Torchia feels Nintendo is misrepresenting their Wii games as a replacement for sensible exercise and sports activities. He believes that Nintendo needs to issue a warning that these games are intended for entertainment and not to replace actual physical activity. Through slick advertising campaigns and product placements on popular television shows, children and adults are being brainwashed that Wii games are safe and effective ways to become physically fit.

"On the contrary, Nintendo is contributing to the epidemic of obesity. Young and old are putting away their gym clothes and shying away from going outdoors to play sports, because the addictive appeal to the Wii game products. Just as the tobacco companies created such a false image of their products and hid the potential dangers, so is Nintendo," says Torchia.

    ABSO-*bleep*ing-LUTELY!

I'm sorry, I didn't actually read the whole article. Truth be told, I'm a little scared that clicking the source link and reading the original in its entirety may result in accidental and permanent brain damage -- a lobotomy by text, if you will.

Insufficient quantity of safety warnings? Surely you are effing kidding me. I go through several just turning on my Wii and starting up one of my games! If people are so darn stupid, I sure hope they do hurt themselves. Nintendo cover themselves everywhere they can, if your reading level is around that of a three year old's then again, it's your own problem. Heck, they even give you diagrams!

This is *bleep*ing bull. Most kids who have a Wii go outside a lot, since it doesn't really have ''Super d00per awzzum gamez''.

I've never taken heed of the warnings in the past.
I am there to enjoy the damn game.

I guess casual gamers may have a different mentality. That would be the only way for this lawsuit to make any sense to me.

i'm tired of people taking advantage of nintendo for this shit they are too stupid to read.
Why are more and more adults trying to immitate george bush?
If people are too stupid to realise its a fking video game, they don't deserve to have it. honestly, there need to be literacy tests and crap like that to bar those who are too stupid or ignorant to handle these "COMPLICATED and hard to find" safety guidlines.
people like this make me die on the inside, showing me humanity has no hope if their genes suceed.

No. We need to put them both on an island in the middle of no where.

They'd be happy (no video games for miles) and we'd be happy (two less idiots).

Why not file a lawsuit on "outside", because it doesn't have any safety warnings shoved right in your face about not getting injured.
