It has been revealed that, as guessed, the survival mode will be pitting players against waves of zombies to see which team can survive the longest against the hordes on over 12 maps. In guessing, there will probably be leader boards which will show the longest time survived and by whom.

A few details on the Survival Pack DLC for Valve's multiplayer zombie shooter Left 4 Dead have squeaked out following its cryptic announcement last week.

A new Survival mode will see "up to four player set records for the longest time surviving hordes of zombies on over 12 maps," according to word from GameTrailers TV.

Must be like those Horde waves you have to fight off like at the end of every movie. I'll give it about a week till someone finds a glitch or two.

This is what I want! Team based competition against zombies = multiplayer perfection in my opinion. And to see the Xbox360 version which is arguably inferior getting treated equally in regards to ongoing support is fantastic.

It is inferior. All of Valve's online enabled games are far better on PC than on console.

I like the "12 maps" aspect but I worry that they'll just be chunks taken out from the already existing 4 scenarios.
