Now, before you read on I have to warn you that this is only valid to US residents as huntyr found out while reading their Terms of Service.

GameFly has a deal on (read: pyramid scam) where if you get five (5) friends to signup for their service they will give you a free Nintendo Wii.

GameFly's cheapest service / package is $10. Give your friends $10 each and have them signup with the referral code you give them and you'll receive a voucher from GameFly. Fill out all the necessary information, send it back and you'll have your Wii delivered to your door all for $50. Let your friends cancel their subscriptions after you have said Wii in your hands and voila.

Wii, we've got yet another supposed remedy for the Wii shortages. This will just make more people go after a Wii, causing the shortage to continue.

To qualify, friends must be first-time GameFly members and must remain paid members for at least one month.

And I don't see that likely due to GameFly's prices.

It's still $50. The $10 a month is for the one month of service. The relevant part of that comment I suppose is that your friends have to have never used GameFly before, which is likely since it's really not that common.
