Davide Jaffe, famous creator of the God of War series has recently announced that he wants LucasArts to call him and his studio Eat Sleep Play, saying that he wants to work on an Indiana Jones game, apparently being a big fan. He says he has some great ideas to expand the franchise, though it is doubtful LucasArts will take up the offer.

1UP: I was replaying God of War 1 last weekend, and one thing I had forgotten was how many Indiana Jones similarities there were. So I'm curious, how much of this was you wanting to make an Indiana Jones game -- but obviously in a different setting -- and how much of it was just you wanted to pull in a few inspirations here and there?

DJ: Well, there was, and will always remain until I get to do it, a desire to work with Indiana Jones in the interactive medium. I would still to this day love to do that. But really, I can't express, to the point that it borders on the absurd and potentially disturbing, the importance of Indiana Jones -- and specifically Raiders of the Lost Ark -- to my sort of creative development. So certainly, those movies, and specifically Raiders, are really important to me. And I think there was certainly intentional homage paid -- we knew we were making our own game, our own character, our own setting -- but there was definitely a sort of tip of the hat to Indy and sort of that great movie that Raiders was, absolutely.

I don't know . . . I don't like the GOW series, I doubt I'd like the one making those games, take hold of my beloved Indiana Jones. Unless he sticks with the good IJ way of things and doesn't try to make it like GOW or something.

Is it not better than to have no Indy at all?

Just because a developer makes one style of games doesn't mean they can't do something else. Of course Jaffe likes the God of War mechanic but that works for the kind of game it is, Indiana Jone would probably play out more like Uncharted: Drakes Fortune and thus Eat Sleep Play will probably get help from Naughty Dog in that aspect. This could turn out great for the franchise though whether LucasArts will sign on to a developer that really likes the Playstation 3 architecture and would probably make it exclusive is another thing.

Yeah really. Jaffe jumped from car combat to hack n' slash, and back again. Its not like he's confined to a single genre.

Well I know that, I'm just saying that some/most devs like to stick with their personal type of gameplay. Especially if they see that it works and is popular.

Wow, if he made it like Twisted Metal? Then he's definitely got a huge imagination.

If he did work on Indy and ends up being a GoW rip-off, I would hate this game.

Did anyone else just get mental images of Indy jumping around and brutally slaughtering Nazis with his whip?

Yes I've never played GoW but seeing it for 5 minutes, it looks pretty brutal.

Man, i'd love for some company to pick up the nearly finished Indiana Jones game and finish it off.

Considering it was ditched for the extremely poor Wii version anyway ; ; I want a real next gen Indy on PS3 / 360 / PC

"David Jaffe designing Indiana Jones? Thats it, the next IJ is going to be a GoW clone!!11!!"

Wtf? A dev can design different gameplay systems for different games. I doubt Jaffe would make IJ anything like GoW, hes too good a dev for that.

This would definitely raise the bar on the expected quality of the game, IF he was to be helping with it.
