It's never a good sign when a films producers decide not to screen the finished product to critics before the premiere release. This is unfortunately exactly what the guys behind the upcoming Street Fighter film have elected to do. Or not do. Something to hide? Probably. But you never know it may be that they just don't want snotty critics driving away people. But then again, that shows their doubts.

For those of you holding out hope that "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" might turn out to be good, here's a not-too-promising development: Fox won't be screening the movie for critics before it's released next Friday, the 27th.

Which means those who want to see it opening night will have to brave those treacherous waters review-free. Of course, in 95% of cases, not screening a movie is the studio's way of admitting critics are sure to hate it -- usually because it's bad, occassionally because it's a genre, like horror, that critics rarely appreciate.

      Quoted...for...truth

They should just make decent animes of it instead. Like the Animated Movie in 1994. That one was truly epic.

I'll just go see this one for the lulz.

You'd be an uneducated idiot if you thought this wouldn't fail outright. Streetfighter 2, the game, hardly had a plot worth nothing at all. A 1.5-2 hour long film? Not a chance. Doesn't matter who's directing/starring. It wouldn't be a Streetfighter movie, and one can't be made to Hollywood standard without the script drafts erupting into flames.

I just don't get Hollywood sometime. They could have paid like a $1000 bucks to some huge Street Fighter fan to be a creative consultant on the movie. That $1000 would be like the price of a day's beverages of the crew, and could possibly transform a stupid game knock-off movie into something that Street Fighter fans might actually enjoy.

I'm just curious as to why they thought another would work after that Jean Claude Van Damme piece of shit from however many years ago that was.

Kristen Kreuk + popular franchise + shit movie with a few fight scenes + mindless public = $$$$

They don't care whether people like the film or not, as long as they make a mint out of it then it works for them. Another cheap Hollywood cash-in.

Agreed. But in the long run it tarnishes the Street Fighter franchise. Poor business move in my mind.

I respectfully disagree. People still love Street Fighter after the JCVD abomination, so it shows that the fans don't really care about the cheap cash-ins, especially since there is a new SF game and anime movie to keep us preoccupied this time around. It's just a way for Capcom to make more money. I seriously can't see this film doing any damage to SF as a franchise. It'll just come out, get a bit of hype, stagnate, receive a month or two of ridicule and it'll be forgotten like it's predecessor, the only lasting effect being on Capcom's wallet.

And hell, if it becomes an absolute failure and the film-makers fade away and vanish from the industry then it's just an added bonus

Agreed about the film-makers as well.

I agree with the people that say it should have been made as an Anime.Don't know if anyone has seen the Tekken Anime movie but I loved it.

I will see this film, don't expect a whole lot from it but that could be a good thing. It's got an alright cast, like the choice for Balrog (Duncan) and Charlie (Klein), Taboo may do good as Vega as well. Unlike the majority here, I don't dislike Kruek. Sure they could have picked an actress more 'suited' for the role, but hell, least she's Asian.

I quite liked the look of the trailer though, I think I'll still watch.
