10 Game Characters Who Should Just Die

Ever thought a character in a game should just call it quits and bring and end to it all. Well here is a list of the top 10 video game characters who just end it all and finally die.

Lara Croft

When she first made her splash on the gaming scene, players were introduced to an intelligent and strong female character that traveled the world while defeating enemies and collecting ancient treasure. Unfortunately, Lara's adventures quickly devolved into bland and poorly designed titles rife with technical issues, horrendous puzzles and atrocious combat. Even worse, Lara's image devolved from one of intelligence to a virtual blow-up doll. While she made a mild return to form with Tomb Raider Legend, finally holstering Lara's twin pistols is long overdue.


Tony Hawk

Let's be clear: we are in no way advocating the death of the real Tony Hawk. Absolutely not. But killing him in one of his final game outings -- that would be just plain hilarious. Imagine Tony walking triumphantly through a skate park, the wind whipping past him in slow-motion after nailing the most insane tricks known to man. As he goes to retire his board forever, a massive hawk swoops down from the sky (also in slow-motion) and grabs him by the shoulders, carrying him away. As he looks back at the shrinking figures of his fellow skaters, he quietly gives a thumbs-up as a single tear rolls down his cheek. Classic.

    I agree with some (Slippy, Crash Bandicoot, Master Chief) but some I don't (Kratos, Link, Dr. Light) Still its a better list than most .

    Link?! Are you *bleep*ING joking? Link, aside from not speaking, is one of the most in depth characters in the entire gaming world. Sure he may be some country boy at the beginning of the game. (Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess) but the series never EVER let's you down when you play it. (Maybe that CD-i shit, but who really counts that as part of the franchise anyway?) The series does so well, why the fcuk would Nintendo even think of considering that suggestion of Link dying? Bulleffingshit is what that is. Link is a total badass, in my opinion. Sure they may not need to put him as a kid from the forest in every game. Hell, I would LOVE to see something like him being a mild mannered, twenty-something Hylian Soldier turned twenty-something Hylian savior instead. That would be a lot cooler, but I am just fine with him being the character he is in every game. It's not like each game is EXACTLY THE SAME, either. Think of how many new features were added to Twilight Princess and Wind Waker upon their releases? Yeah. IGN can go suck the fattest cock they can find amongst their editors.

    And how the hell do you actually KILL Kratos? Why would you want to kill him? He's been in three cash-cow games, which are all a lot of fun, mind you. Aside from that, he's just a good character in general. Everyone likes a badass with a vendetta.

    I agree with Wily, the Sonic cast, Tony Hawk, Slippy (sometimes) and Crash Bandicoot though. Only the Crash games after Warped, though. The first three were amazing.

      I agree, but Link is far from one of the top "deep" characters. The series is awesome, but not cause link is a deep character.

      Anyway, shitty list. Most of these characters are gaming legends. You might as well throw mario on the list

    I actually agree with most of the list- the characters I've played anyway. Kratos' story really needs to end in III. Of course, he doesn't need to die or anything, but there needs to be closure to make sure Kratos doesn't appear in future games. Hes totally badass, and I'm a big fan, but a dude like him has to have a definite end.

    Lara, I agree with. Though most LC fans will oppose me on this one, I feel that her recent entries don't have the charm of the oldest ones. Make way for Nathan Drake.

    Master Chief, I can't voice any opinion on him, because I haven't Halo, but I know a few halo players who want him out and a new character for the next entry.

    Crash Bandicoot needs to go too. He ruled on PS1, but ever since ND lost his contract, his games have been shit.

    BTW, I hope you guys note that while the article says "die", I take it as meaning to end the series, or a characters involvement in a series.

    that list is crap, except for Slippy, the Sonic characters and Crash Bandicoot. those are the only ones that should die.

    well except for Kratos having a very dramatic and worthy death in GOW3 if that happens, it would be cool but id miss him. same with the Chief. he almost had an honorable death, but oh no! Bungie just couldnt kill him off.

    Some of these entries were good, and the details of Tony Hawk's death is hilarious, but I'd rather Crash Bandicoot get one more good platforming game in to try and become relevant again. Ratchet & Clank have virtually taken over as Sony's mascots (though I love their games too). Slippy needs to stay dead when I refuse to help him in Star Fox The Link entry was ridiculous though. The deal about him is that it's supposed to be a different Link in every game, so not sure why the character needs to be killed off when most Legend of Zelda games are incredible.

    crash's latest games are in no way bad. in fact, theyre pretty neat. most people just wont give them a chance because they're convinced crash is past his prime.

    and the cutscenes are pretty damn funny in the latest one, btw.

      I played Crash Of The Titans. It was pretty good and beat my expectations, but haven't got Mind Over Mutant, but I will..

      It has something to do with his buddy Spyro's collapse I reckon.

    I was shocked to see no Final Fantasy characters in there. Cos, let's face it, Final Fantasy died a long time ago. Come to think of it, Final Fantasy never really lived at all in my eyes.
