Experts believe they have discovered a type of skin disorder, brought on by excessive video gaming.

A girl visited a Geneva hospital with painful sores on her hands after regular gaming. After ten days of non-gaming, the sores dissipated. The condition, Idiopathic Eccrine Hidradenitis, is often linked with excessive sweating and is more often found on the feet of children who participate in activities such as jogging, but it is rare for the condition to appear on the hands alone. Skin experts advise that "Playstation palmar hidradenitis", as it's been dubbed, be added to the list of recognised skin conditions. It's also advised that players take some time to rest if their hands begin to feel sore while playing.

... her parents did say that she had recently started to play a video game on a PlayStation console for several hours a day, and had continued to play even after developing the sores.

The doctors suspect that the problem was caused by tight and continuous grasping of the console's hand-grips, and repeated pushing of the buttons, alongside sweating caused by the tension of the game.
