Developer Chunsoft has unveiled it's new Pokemon project in the making. It is said to be a sequel to the well known series, Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon. Wi-fi has already been confirmed.

Following the first mention earlier this year by developer Chunsoft of a new Pokemon Mysterious Dungeon game for the DS, we've at long last gotten a full look at the new title. Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon, as the series is known in Japan, will be released to the Japanese DS this Fall in two packages, Toki no Tankentai (Time Exploration Battalion) and Yami no Tankentai (Darkness Exploration Battalion).

As with the original fusion of ChunSoft's popular Mysterious Dungeon series with the Pokemon franchise, this new set of games begins when the human main character finds himself transported to the world of Pokemon. He's also been transformed into a Pokemon himself and is capable of communicating with the Pokemon around him.

You don't get to manually pick your in-game Pokemon counterpart. Instead, the game starts off by asking you a series of questions. Based on your answers, you become one of the 16 default Pokemon.

The default list is made up of Pokemon who appeared for the first time in Diamond & Pearl. Pikachu and other older Pokemon can be selected as companions to accompany you on your quest.

And what is that quest all about? As in the original, your ultimate goal is to figure out how to get back into human form, but along the way, you'll have to take on missions from a guild. Your character will grow as you clear tasks that include searching for treasure and helping troubled Pokemon.

Once again, missions take you to randomly generated dungeons where you make use of tools that you find scattered about to clear traps. Chunsoft is including Wi-Fi Connection support this time around, so if you find yourself overwhelmed in a dungeon, players from far, far away can come to your aid (and you can return the favor later).

Given the strong international sales of the first Mysterious Dungeon titles (released in two versions, one for the Game Boy Advance and one for the DS), there's little doubt that the new games will arrive our way at some point. In the meanwhile, we'd suggest continuing to refresh your Pokemon skills every now and then with Diamond & Pearl.

Pokemon games are getting tiring, seriously. They don't have as much creativity as they used to be and recent pkmn games look like everybody is on the gay side.

The Mystery Dungeon games were alright. Definately not as great as the others. But I'll probably get the game off my friend when he beats it.

They seem to be milking the pokemon games for all they can get at the moment, but I suppose considering how well they sell you can't really blame them too much.

They've got to stop with all these games. Sure they're popular, but they're way too repetative. Run around and get pokemon, train them and beat people. Not very exciting after all these games they've released. Enough is enough. They should've stopped after Diamond and Pearl. But whatever, let Pokemon take over the world.

Synergy's right. More games and more profit is one thing, too many games and lesser interest in the long run is another. If they limit themselves to just a handful a year, perhaps they can get the best of the sales...though they don't seem to realize that. When they lose their fans eventually, it'll be too late.

As long as the core games, like Diamond and Pearl Version, remain fun, the series will continue. You can't judge a game series by its spin offs. Look at Mario for goodness sake!

Diamond didn't look half bad when I first saw it, but my brother has it, and I couldn't care less not owning it tbh

I probably won't be getting this game either. I played the first mystery dungeon and it just bored me to tears. Frankly, I rather stick with my Diamond and Pearl. Of course, I'm not completely dismissing it. It could actually turn out to be a good game.

But the thing is Pokemon will keep selling and selling, due to its everlasting appeal towards 7-12 year olds. It's like my 10 year old brother is overjoyed by the news that a sequel is coming out. As long as they have the audience interested, the games will keep coming and coming.

Oh for the sake of little children world wide >_>
This is just ludicrous! Give it a rest for a while; Pokemon is getting worn out like Mario now -_-

Let the elementary school stampede commence.

I guess if it still sells and is wildly popular, you can't really blame the developers for milking the franchise for all it's worth. If I was in their shoes, I would also continue to make games until the novelty wore off.

    It's just business.
