Timed if the first game was any indication.

The title is a bit misleading:
The announcement itself is exclusive on xboxlive, whether it's an xbox360 exclusive remains to be seen.

Whether or not any further formats will follow (as both the PC and PLAYSTATION3 versions of the original Lost Planet: Extreme Condition did)

Ignoring the PS3 userbase wouldn't be a smart move by Capcom, but then again: they could received another big bag of cash from MS.

Geez, and I thought the days of third party console exclusives were dying. Or is LP2 guaranteed to sell that much?

I am sure Microsoft is hoping it sells that much, going by the original a few hundred thousand will buy it and tell their friends not to bother. Lost Planet was not good enough as a game and it was only Xbox 360 exclusive because it released before the Playstation 3. Lost Planet 2 just doesn't gauge much interest from me atleast, maybe this is Microsoft trying to steal a few Playstation 3 users that actually liked this game. For me it was an average shooter and unless Microsoft know something we don't i think it'll stay average.

It's not like it's a bad game, and I would hardly say it's to steal users from Sony. Apparently, going off what a few articles have said, the first Lost Planet supposedly had a good following in Japan, which is probably the best reason for MS to try and get exclusivity.

I don't see why Capcom would make Dead Rising 2 multiplatform yet make this one exclusive.

Not the greatest marketing ploy I've ever heard.

It won't last long. Though I was planning on getting it for the 360 anyways...

i cant really see the point in this, its not a very good franchise as it is, and most of the 2.2 million units sold are through the bundle sets you got with the early 360's.

Dont really see myself missing much.

PS3 needs it more than the 360 does. :/

Hardly. The PS3 has Killzone II, God Of War III, Uncharted II, Heavy Rain and MAG on the exclusive front this year. The 360 has a game stuck in development hell (Alan Wake) and an expansion pack for Halo 3. Compared to a reasonably strong 2008 line-up, the 360 is looking baron for 2009.

Aha, nice comeback. You make perfect sense, but the first game was on the PS3 so it shouldn't have been ignored right?

And that translates to the PS3 needing it how exactly?

Neither of them NEED it. The first was standard at best. Give it to the DS; it wouldn't make any difference.

Really? Cause just by searching Google I found 2009 360 exclusives such as Halo Wars, Alan Wake, Halo Chronicles, Cry On, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell Conviction, Star Ocean IV, Forza 3. Sure, it can look like a baron if you only show one side of the story.

Or if you're not interested in most of those games

The only game you listed that I'm sad about missing out on is Alan Wake. That game should be amazing.

A bit foolish on Capcom's side. If Lost Planet 2 is gonna get the most sales, its when the game launches for both consoles at the same time, not one year later when no one cares anymore.

Yep, this is exactly the same thing they said about Lost Planet 1. And we ALL know how much truth that eventually held.

I bought Lost Planet the day before they announced this since it was only $12.99 at Gamestop, I've enjoyed it and look forward to playing the second game in new terrains.

I just thought of something, the port on the PS3 probably didn't do well. I mean by then everyone knew the controls sucked, there was a 5GB install and anyone who really would have wanted to play it would have got it on the 360.

So I guess Capcom think its just not...worth it?

Really? Port's never seem to work out, maybe it just wasn't worth it, especially if Microsoft give them a big pile of money to make it exclusive.
