Seen Fun with Dick & Jane? Well what they can do with water pistols, a Brazilian man named Gustavo can do with a Sega gaming gun. The only variance on his tactics is that instead of robbing stores or banks, Gustavo managed to hold a woman hostage for 10 hours. Nice work Gustavo.

A man that invaded a house in Fern this Saturday to reclaim a R$42 debt from one of the inhabitants, appears in the roof of the residence with a gun.

After more than 10 hours of negotiations with police a man, armed with a fake gun, and a 60 year old woman left the house.

The man of 42 years negotiated with authorities over the release of the woman using a toy gun as a threat. He is being charged with armed robbery.

I'm mostly curious as to why the grandma was buying it for a second. She could have just yelled out to the cops that it was a fake gun.

Haha, kinda funny and crazy at the same time. As for why they didn't know . . . you have to realize that there are a LOT of people, especially in other countries, that do not know the different video game peripherals. Something that looks like a gun, could very well be a gun to them for all they know.

I do wonder though what kind of gun they thought it was when looking at it! It's crazy looking! "He's from the future, guys Handle with caution!! This is what we've trained for!"

I'm quite shocked at how she didn't realise it was a fake gun D:
Even if you had never seen a video game gun or the likes before you could have surely seen that it was made from plastic.

This is not a critaria for justifying if a weapon is real or not. Many actual pistols are made of plastic-like materials. From a distance you can't be 100% sure it's not a real gun

especially if you've never seen a real gun. Believe it or not, there are people who have never seen a gun (even a fake one) in person.

From a distance, it's not surprising that gun could be confused for a real one. It wouldn't have been a problem for the NES light gun, though, since it's orange and gray. Now if he held her up with an SNES Super Scope, THAT would have been hilarious

This guy knows what he was doing. Forcing someone to play SEGA games is the worst threat even.

I joke, but seriously, it's amazing the lengths some people will go to. I don't see why he couldn't have just used a real gun instead of having to use a SEGA one.

maybe because he couldn't get his hands on a real gun? You can't buy them at your local game shops youknow

It's not exactly easy to find SEGA light gun from the late 80s either.

Anyway, it's hard to see, but it looks like he cut the cord off, so at least he was using SOME logic.

Who said he was looking for one? He probably had one lying around at home or bought it for cheap at some stall or something.

And hey, it worked. Why use a real one if the fake one works?

you can go to any car boot sale and find an old lightgun, Are you seriously comparing getting your hands on a live firearm to a old lightgun?
