Recently Sony announced a slew of new titles for the PSP, including franchises like Assassin's Creed, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm and Rock Band. But according to PSP head of marketing John Koller this was only the half of it, and they have heaps more coming later, that this was just to whet our appetites a bit. Essentially this means more new games on the way, maybe for PSP and PS3.

Several major PSP hits-in-the-making were announced earlier this week, but Sony’s head of PSP marketing in North America, John Koller, told me that we don’t even know the half of it.

The announcements we made are half the story,” Koller told me in an phone interview on Thursday. “There’s another half still to be announced in the next couple of months-slash E3. A lot of first and third-party titles that are coming in the back half of the year want to hold their announcement until E3 timeframe. There’s a few pretty ‘majors’ coming still in that franchise line, but we wanted to whet people’s appetite.”

Although everyones different with their opinions of the PSP, I do have to agree. This is a few years too late. Better late than never though.

Having said that, I wont be buying any. I'm selling my PSP because after 3 and a bit years (I got it on launch day), it has not got anything noteworthy and which I consider addicting. Thus, it goes.

I have a PSP and I don't care about any of those. Why would I want a port of a game that I'd rather get on a console? Hopefully these future announcements are of original games that maybe I can finally buy. The last game I *bleep*ing got for my PSP was Metal Gear: Portable Ops. I was still in freaking highschool when I got that.

They're not ports. They're completely new games exclusive to the PSP.
Nice one, Silver Mirror. I'm really looking forward to these. =]

The problem I have with PSP (and to a lesser extent, the DS) is that I never find myself in the situation where I need a handheld.

I usually talk to friends and mates when we are walking around or driving somewhere, and Now that wireless controllers are present with the consoles, I do not need to snuggle up in bed and play.

It has eliminated all my needs for a handheld. I bet others feel the same also. Wireless controllers and a busy lifestyle do not go well with a handheld console.

Except Pokemon Blue. You all make time for that! XD

Awesome. Good to see that the PSP is getting some new games after a long period of drought. I guess this means I can finally stop playing God of War: CoO over and over (and over) again.

I don't think a rock band game on the PSP would work all that well, part of the fun of it is actually playing the instrument, which you can't really do on the PSP.
