We have here yet another look inside Dante's Inferno, Redwood Shores' upcoming adaptation of The Divine Comedy.
According to Desctructoid's "Hamza CTZ Aziz", live from Wondercon, the game begins with "Dante killing Death and taking Deaths scythe", then returning home to find his fiancée Beatrice has been murdered and "seduced" into Hell by Lucifier. Dante then proceeds to kick open the gates of Hell and try to get his lady back.
From here he faces each of his sins to redeem himself while searching for his love, who is apparently just as sinful.
According to the poor quality shots taken of the presentation at Wondercon, artist for the original work Gustave Dore will play some role in inspiring the adaptation.
Another Destructioid writer, Conrad Zimmerman, was not so keen on a previous set of details revealed on the game..but what do you think now?
And as far as the God of War comparisons go, one of the EA reps talking (I believe it was Jonathan Knight) at the panel said that they are flattered to be compared to God of War and were surprised that they dont get more Devil May Cry comparisons. Oh, and one thing that I thought was pretty cool was the premise behind the Charon, the ferryman of Hades. Charon is the man who takes souls across the river to the other side. For the game, they've transformed Charon into a living boat.

I'll probably end up checking this out anyway.
Looks pretty cool, Devil May Cry remake or not.
Game sounds good, in concept, but in practice it comes down the the gameplay....But yes, it seems more and more DMC~ish than anything.
I'm still wondering why they didn't just make a character inspired by the author, rather than making the main character be him, and look nothing like him? >_>
