Microsoft is apparently impressed with Killzone 2. Going so far as to congratulate Sony and Guerilla Games for all the effort they put into making the game. Also stating that certain unannounced 360 exclusives will "far surpass" anything we have seen before.

We congratulate Sony and Guerilla Games for their efforts with Killzone 2, however this is only the beginning of a new wave. The current technology employed by unannounced Xbox 360 exclusives far surpasses what gamers have seen in any game so far.

Well, that's pretty much what I would expect MS to say. Now if they announced some real titles, then I would be surprised LMFAO

It's a shame Sony aren't so arrogant about their games.

Halo 4 anyone? Cos Section 8 looks bloody awful ...

They were in the PS2 era, when they were winning and arrogance didn't seem like arrogance. When you're seemingly behind it is best to be humble and let the work speak for itself.

Didn't Sony arrogantly talk about how great Home would be...? I remember the term 'revolutionary' being used. Seems like every week Sony and others make a claim that a new game will "stand as a new definition of gaming experiences..."

Am I the only one imagining The Joker getting really mad and smashing things behind closed doors and then sending out a really calm and smug broadcast about how next time he'll 'best the Bat'

"The current technology employed by unannounced Xbox 360 exclusives far surpasses what gamers have seen in any game so far."

I think they forgot to finish the sentence. It should go like ...have seen in any game so far...(before Killzone 2).

I wish Microsoft the best of luck as personally Sony have already surpassed Killzone 2. Heavy Rain is a game with visuals that are better than anything on any platform.

      Slumpy monkey Mar 2, 09
      Including PC? And beating crysis?
      • 1
        BlackLabel Mar 2, 09
I personally think so as to me Crysis still has visual flaws. It does everything to a very good standard but it also motion blurs like a bitch to make it look better. From a realism standpoint i think Heavy Rain takes it further, but Crysis does look very good considering it's age now.

          Slumpy monkey Mar 2, 09
From what I've seen heavy rain has its visual flaws too. I guess no game can be perfect ATM. I think crysis does lighting almost perfect, if you see some of the real life and crysis comparison the detail is amazing. From what I've seen of Heavy rain is the eyes are extremely detailed and the lips look nice too. I think Heavy rain does face models better, but crysis does the environment a lot better, and overall I think its graphical quality is unmatched and will be for while TBH.

          For example
The quality and detail is amazing.

and on here the eyes and lips look great.

It was expected Microsoft would say something along these lines. Killzone 2 has after all been a huge coup for Sony.

However, I'm not so sure Microsoft can really surpass the PS3 in terms of technologically advanced games. The PS3 has the huge advantage of Blu-Ray. One thing I will say though is that 360 games often have better textures than PS3 games, but PS3 games tend to have better lighting and particle effects.

Just down to storage in the end. Sony can make a better game simply because they can stuff more into the disk. Not being biased but that really is the bottom line. More space = more stuff. I don't look any further than that when people discuss console differences. Course that doesnt mean that PS3 games are better, just that they have the means to be better.

    HisServant77 Mar 3, 09
Well I would say that's very mature of MS, but really it's not. It's more of a "Yeah, that's fine. But Mine is better!" Then "Well let's see yours," and MS Says "Well, I don't have it . . . yet! But just you wait and see!"

Tiger of Wu Mar 3, 09
Agreed. If they had said something along the lines of 'Sony and Guerilla games did a good job with Killzone 2, but this doesn't mean we are defeated and we look forward to trying to top what they've created' instead of just saying 'It's good, but we're better' then it would have been a much more respectable and, in turn, respected claim. As it turns out they've just made themselves seem like immature children, as you've said.

    dmf_dynasty Mar 3, 09
I definately expect something as a retaliation from them sometime soon. We've known about KZ2 for a long time and MS has probably been working on something of its caliber for the 360 for a while. I really hope so, because that would be awesome.

lets all pissy towards M$ because they're doing what a company does - compete. how many successful business got where they are by saying their competition is superior to them, and dickriding the competitions products?

Tiger of Wu Mar 3, 09
For me it's not so much the fact that they're saying what they've got is going to be better then Killzone 2, that's to be expected, it's the fact that they're being so openly highly arrogant and smug about it even though they've given us nothing to go on which is just immature. If someone said they had a goose that could shit gold but offered no proof you would think them a complete idiot; in the same manner when Microsoft are proclaiming they're working on something that's going to far surpass everything we've seen so far and that their exclusives will define a new gaming experience whilst giving absolutely nothing to go on then I'm sure you can understand why people would mock.

Unless you're planning on releasing Halo 4, I doub it.

Didn't they also say they were working on a 'better stealth/action game' than MGS4 for 360? That never materialised either.

So unless they've got some hard evidence, I will take it as seriously as the 'amazing' unannounced PS3 exclusive titles.
    • 1
      DystopiaSticker Mar 3, 09
No doubt that was some shitty blog talking about that new stealth game. Just like how 90% of the time it's some shitty blog talking about how the next firmware PS3 update will give the PS3 the ability to produce free Tender Crisp Bacon Cheddar Ranches and the next PS3 exclusive will be so awesome your eyes will bleed (only for the game to never be mentioned again for years).

Speaking of which what ever happened to that reporter that told us about a PS3 exclusive so incredible it would revolutionalize the entire game industry over night? But then because of some non-disclosure BS he couldn't tell us anything about the game including the title. Did we ever actually figure out what game he was talking about?

Another World War 2 combat game?

That doesn't look "better" than MGS4. Just different. Certainly has less hype behind it.

Except it's not a combat game. It's a stealth game.

          Koloth Mar 9, 09
Still another game based in WW2 that will involve military combat. It just adds an element of stealth for those that want to employ it. Unless it is one of those rare stealth games that forces you to be stealthy.

Velvet Assassin sounds strangely like a multiplatform game coming in 09 that just happens to be one of my most looked forward to titles: Saboteur.

Been a while since I've heard of a WWII stealth game coming out and two happen to be coming in the same year.

And just to say Koloth, Sabotuer, despite being set in WWII, actually looks pretty awesome and has quite a few original aspects to it. I love the stylization. Can't say anything about Velvet Assassin though. As far is it being better than MGS4: lol.

@JPATTON- You are right . Its just about storage space. Why would we ever need more storage space than a DVD? Better yet why would we ever need more storage space than a CD-ROM? We should go back to putting everthing on a cart. IT loaded way faster than your 10x DVD drive in the XBOX 360. IT only stores less data, so whats the problem?I know, people like you.

I think he just completely mind-*bleep*ed himself and actually has no idea what the hell JPATTON said

Just for clarification brett; JPATTON said that MORE space is better, because you can get MORE things on there. By the looks of it you're mocking him for thinking the DVD drive is better, so either you've worded what you've meant in a TOTALLY incompetent way or you just have no idea wtf you're talking about.

Unless if you're calling him a moron for saying it comes down to storage space and that's why the PS3 has the means to be better, but even then your wording is utterly terrible XD
