For those looking forward to id Software's Rage, you'll have to wait awhile. According to the studio's CEO Todd Hollenshead, it won't be out this year.

Rage is the company's latest new property, a post-apocalyptic shooter with a focus on driving (while shooting), too, though we're not sure how much exactly.

There's still no official release date, which isn't particularly surprising, but we'd be surprised if we see it before late 2010.

Rage is iD's new post-apocalyptic driving/shooting IP, built on the company's latest technology, and is due out for PC, Mac, Xbox 360, and PS3, at some point in the future. Yes, Mac.

What about Doom 4? Are they focusing on any of the two recently announced games. I would rather see Doom 4 first as iD Tech Engine has always either been shown off by Doom or Quake as they do it so well with their blend of light and dark environments.

I'm writing off Doom 4, personally (link).

I don't mind, i mean Doom has never really had a story. They have tried here and there but it has essentially been walk from room to room and try not to die. I have never been one to expect such things from a shooter that ultimately pioneered the genre and had next to zero story.

Yeah, it's been fine up until now, for me. Now I'm just tired of it. Especially with games like BioShock and Dead Space out...I have no desire to play shooters with the same old plot.

I thought it was 60% shooting and 40% driving. Last time I heard.

Get me a source and I'll add it to the description.

I think it's more like %25 driving. You just like drive to go to areas where you spend long time shooting.

Concerning Rage, it looks pretty cool but I'm more interested in Borderlands.

Borderlands looks wicked. Over 750,000 weapons!? Fully customisable weapons, free roam, randomly generated map(such as outside of the normal cities the game will generate bunkers, enemies etc) and without a loading screen.

        YES PLZ

750k? Even assuming that incorporates modifications, that's got to be inaccurate..

Not to mention that, even if there are over 750K weapons in Borderlands, there's probably going to be many, many weapons that are nearly identical to each other.

I am interested in that game, though.

No, there the numbers so far.

The game randomly generates weapons, so could find a sniper that fires a rocket or something, then another time you find one that shoots darts etc. That's the numbers on wiki.

But there can only really be so many kinds of weapons.

The only way I see there being anywhere near 750K weapons in Borderlands is if they make many, many ridiculous weapons, like a gun that fires bears at people or something.

Otherwise, there will be several duplicates.

    That's...too many combinations.

You can never have too many weapons
