World in Conflict owners must be pretty satisfied with their purchase, as this is the tenth patch released for the game.

v1.010 makes the original version of the game compatible for multiplayer with the upcoming World in Conflict Complete and Soviet Assault (coming this month), adds a variety of bug fixes and balance to the single and multiplayer modes, and removes the SecuROM/disk check DRM from the game (the latter for single player, anyway).

You can grab the patch and see the changelog at the source.

The missing maps issue preventing players from joining certain servers has been addressed, a new difficulty level has been added for bots, helicopters can now fire at targets directly beneath them, single-player missions have been balanced and tweaked in several ways, admin spectators can now chat to both teams and much more.

Good news! Pretty good game in my opinion, but removing the DRM from the game surely opens the game upto piracy?

It's opened up to piracy no matter what protection is or isn't on it.
It honestly makes no difference..games are often pirated before they're released, or the day of.
