Some interesting news has come out about ThatGameCompany's unique game, Flower. The game has about 200K blades of grass in a level and all that move realistically with the wind. Saying that they depends heavily on the PS3's SPU for this.

Mod edit: Nothing personal to those who got their comments deleted, but it was necessary.

Indie developer ThatGameCompany has been talking up the PS3's strengths, explaining some of the design processes behind PSN title Flower.

If you haven't played it, the atmospheric Flower sees you using SixAxis motion control to guide petals through some gorgeous rural environments featuring giant fields and thousands of blades of grass.

"It really would be impossible to make it look the same on any other system. But, it's one of the pros with knowing your game is exclusive to a specific system - you can really design everything towards that one platform."

Because this is an article about Flower, and didn't need your general ass*bleep*ery.

Hun, he said either controversial, or obnoxious. You're right in saying that your comment before was not controversial in the slightest. I suppose that leaves only one option.

I had a great time playing through this yesterday, although I wish it was a bit longer. It's great that they're utilizing the system, it's really beautiful to fly up then look down on one of the fields.

Hmm . . . I didn't know that GG was America with the Bill of Rights!

But let's say this is indeed America with it's Bill of Rights. The rights you may have, including but not limited to freedom of speech, must not infringe on the rights of others. Also, I'm sure causing a public argument in an otherwise peaceful setting, is disturbing the peace. Therefore cops are called and you are told to cease or be arrested (or both).

Gee you sure do like that "Freedom of Speech" thing don't you? Yeah . . . me too. Sometimes.

theres no such thing as the right of free speech on the internet. especially on a canadian site

you always have free speech, so long as you're prepared to deal with the consequences of what you say. In that respect, no one can take away your right of speech and free-thought, unless you allow them to, unless you submit to them. point being anyway, it's only a crappy game man (im getting deja-vu here ) no-one's suggesting sterilisation or war as a result of it. It's simply differing opinions, you cant cop out or stop the discussion just because anyone shows any hint of conviction behind their idea. well you can i suppose. but rather, you SHOULDNT. thats no way for an intelligent human to go about things

You dont have freedom of speech if you loose your voice and brake your fingers at the same time ^^

Not on a privately owned site. Neoseeker and GameGrep are owned by Neo Era Media. If you read the ToS when you joined the site you would notice that it explicitely states tat any and all materail posted on the site belongs to Neo Era Media. Therefore once you hit the submit button your post belongs to them, not you.

You're free to state anything you want right up until you hit that button. But once you do the sites administration can do anything they want to that post. Like it or not there is no such thing as freedom of speech on a privately owned website. In fact there is no such thing as freedom of speech in on or around any privately owned site or structure. If you came to my house and started yelling about something I don't like I can have you removed from my property. So can any business.

Freedom of speach isn't truly free. It's nice to think you can say and think what you want. But the same laws that protect your freedoms protect others to. So it is a freedom with limits.

That's like saying you have the freedom of speech in Africa. Of course you do, but you're going to get *bleep*ed up the ass for it.

        carouselambra Mar 26, 09
YES exactly. I know you're taking the piss a bit there man, but no worries; you are the only person so far, who has stated to have understood it. If you're not prepared to deal with that "getting *bleep*ed up the ass" as you so eloquently put it there, then you instead CHOOSE not to speak. That's more important to you. That's your priority.Because you THINK that the power rests in someone elses hands; you believe that if someone comes to kill you, then you have to let them. No. You CAN always speak, and think. And you can always choose to fight anyone who stands in your way, and you can always choose to die fighting. Like a tiger. Instead of like a lamb to the slaughter. That is your power, no-one can take that from you; that is true freedom of speech, and indeed, true FREEDOM. It CANNOT be taken.No-one can take that from you. And when you one day find something, or SOMEONE, that is so important, that you would happily die saying it, then you'll understand what I say here. I'm not saying go do that. Maybe you'll never find it. But UNDERSTAND, that there ARE people on this beautiful plant, who have an idea, that is more important than their small small life. Love, freedom, righteousness;your children, your family, your friends your brothers your sisters your world. I would rather be dead, then lose those things. I face death today happily if it means they will live on instead of me.If that is the choice.I will fight to defend them, I will die fighting if that'll save them. You're telling me, that YOU are more important than those things? Without those things, those things that make up LIFE, life is not worth living. You ARE going to die. nothing can change that. But die today, for SOMETHING, and it lives on past you. Die tommorow, for nothing, and it all dies with you.

This of course, has no bearing on the game. But the topic has been raised. It's up to you if you wish to continue to discuss. I said my bit now,No worries either way.

Why the hell would anybody care about 200k blades of grass on a level?

Who says the level isn't extraordinarily long with 200 per area!?!

...If only...if only there were some calming game, with great music and simple controls that we could all play. Just to mellow out a bit. Perhaps said game could have 200K blades of grass...

Lol, I got told for supposedly "constantly arguing with carouselambra over the whole of gamergrep and pissing everyone of by doing it"

And I've posted like what, one comment in this article in reply to him and I'm the one who gets a PM message.. Lmao. I hardly ever even reply to his posts on here. I mean I posted back asking for how they came to that assumption, but I've yet to get a reply.
