Just when everyone thought the Xbox's "Red Ring Of Death" was the only problem to worry about? According to IGN, there is another issue on the rise...

Just when you think your out, they pull you right back in. That's right folks, just when you thought the era of red ring of death for the Xbox 360 was over, a new potential threat to the console's performance arises. According to several reports and surveys around the web, a growing number of Xbox 360 users are experiencing the E74 hardware failure, otherwise known as the red light of death, not to be confused with the red ring of death. Unlike the red ring of death error, which has reached almost legendary status in terms of mainstream visibility, the E74 hardware failure has remained relatively isolated, or at least so we thought.

    E74?

I think I got that on my first 360 (going on my 4th), I think it had something to do with an internal problem with the A/V cable slot...at least for me.

That was what happened to mine...I was playing Halo and the screen *bleep*ed up and looked like a freeview TV finding a signal. At least I know what was wrong now.

Hard to believe that a console was made even more unreliable than the original PS2, but Microsoft seem to have pulled it off.

Well I've had my Xbox 360 ever since it first came out and had no problems whatsoever.

Now all the sudden I get struck with this error, a week or so away from Guitar Hero: Metallica >.

I dunno, my PS2 lasted 11 years before the drive bit the dust. Just picked up another one, to keep on playing.

The 360 may have some issues, but it's really not all that bad considering the numbers that have been sold. The problems are still quite low in numbers. Mine has been going strong with no issues at all.

11 Years? The PS2 was released in 2000 and we're not yet in 2011.

I wouldn't really call this a new error by any means... But it does seem like it's been more common than the RRoD lately.

Haven't heard of this one before, never got it or the RRoD myself, but I have gotten a 'black/white' screen issue, M$ techs said this was the first report on the problem, so they replaced me old one. Other than that, I've been one of the lucky 360 owners, no major failures.
