God Of war 3 will be the last game in the story line, and could be the last time we see Kratos. But that doesn't mean we won't see more God Of War. There could be more spin offs, such as Chains of Olympus, or even following Kratos's brother.

Sony has heralded God of War III as the epic conclusion to the story started way back in 2005 by David Jaffe's God of War. God of War III producer Steve Caterson acknowledged this, saying "Our goal is to wrap up the story we began with God of War I and continued with God of War II. We will be finishing that arc". However, this is by no means the end of the franchise.

Didn't think they would end the franchise, given how successful it has been both critically and commercially.

I actually read recently that Ready At Dawn approached the God Of War team to try and get the rights to make another PSP game. That would be fantastic, as they done a great job with Chains Of Olympus.

I should hope they continue it. GOW3 already looks to be the PS3's ace-in-the-hole that it needs. To cut a franchise like that off just because one character's story ends is a little shortsighted.

Not the end of the "God of War" franchise, or the franchise that follows mortals around slaying Gods? Cuz, I wouldn't mind if they did a genre based in Norse or Egyptian mythology. I'd love to take down them Viking bastards or go up against a bad-ass looking Anubis. Just to freshen up the genre as a whole, they should do this.

You should seriously take this idea to Santa Monica studios because this is gold.

*bleep* yeah. I mean, to me personally, the next best thing to Greek Myth is Egyptian. I'm sure they could come up with a cool story where a servant of Anubis gets pissed and seeks to destroy him or something. Making monstrous bosses and even throwing in the ole Imhotep just for kicks as a boss would be fun (the original style Imhotep, not the new one). Fight Osiris as Isis is constantly healing him would be even cooler.

This area has as much potential as the current God of War series. I'm just not sure if there's enough there to make it last 3 games. But then again, I'm not as knowledgable with Egyptian myth as I am with Greek myth.
