Wii Fit will pass PS3 in US sales by Summer

NPD numbers for the lifetime sales of Wii Fit shows that it will pass the PlayStation 3 console by the Summer. At six million copies of the game sold, it has the PlayStation 3's roughly eight-nine million consoles sold in its sight.

If Wii Fit (and its Balance Board pack-in) continues to sell at this pace, it will pass the total US sales of the PS3 console sometime in the Summer.

    Is it just me or does this article not make any sense at all? The Wii Fit has sold more copies than the PS3 console? WTF?

    PS3's 8-9 million? The PS3 has sold over 21 million consoles. The article says it will pass the US sales of PS3. Misleading title is misleading. I also love the fact that the original title of the article says it Wii Fit tops Halo 3's total US sales, yet the poster decides to change it to PS3 in attempt to make the PS3 look bad.

        The fact is that it was still stated that Wii Fit will pass the PS3 at this rate, meaning the poster isn't being misleading.

        Nor is saying this an attempt to make the console look bad if it will be fact. They go on to say if the setup were made into its own console, it would account for 13% of console sales in the country.

          We could take a small sample of sales from the PS3's life span, extrapolate them, and say "at this rate the PS3 will be the best selling console ever".

          In other words, this is a terribly pointless article.

          The difference is that this is within a matter of months rather than however long it would take the PS3 to surpass whatever holds top as the most sold console ever.

          No shit, because the best selling console ever sold for a far greater time than the PS3 has been out so far (and is, in fact, still selling worldwide). The timing is relative, obviously.

      That's downright hilarious, Nintendo makes a game that calls you fat and it's about to sell more than the Competition's Console =/

    Well, we are at the beginning of the year, and Wii Fit is this year's version of the Gazelle. Sales will tank when every Wii owner shelves their "let's get in shape" resolution.

    This article makes absolutely no sense at all. How can you compare a game and accessory to a console in terms of sales? That's the most asinine comparison I've seen in a while. That's like saying Goodyear sold more tires than Dodge did Caravans.
