New Katamari game coming exclusively to PS3!

Some PS3 gamers were disappointed when the latest offering in the Katamari franchise forwent the system for the 360 (though we did get the strange Nobi Nobi Boy instead). Luckily for fans the next game is scheduled to come exclusive to the PS3. titled Katamari Damacy Tribute and set to hit Japan this year.

Japanese games are a misunderstood breed in the US. Often nonsensical, always charming, they are either hit or miss amongst most Westerners. For those that do like them, prepare to celebrate - the latest issue of Famitsu confirms a PS3 exclusive Katamari game is in the works. The game is called Katamari Damacy Tribute, and will be running in full 1080p HD. Designers are aiming for a new 'visual expression' with this game. Tribute is due for a 2009 release in Japan.

    Actually, TIME did a feature on the Katamari phenomenon some years back when it was still new, and the franchise had bombed spectacularly in Japan... whereas Americans really embraced the game, spawning sequels.

    Why is this guy suddenly favoring the PS3? First Nobi Nobi Boy now Katamari Damacy exclusive? W/e not complaining, just a little confused.

      I'm wondering if the development team does not have the resources to focus on creating a game with more than one system in mind.

    Didn't they already release an 360 exclusive Katamari? Maybe it didn't do well and they want to go back to where their audience is. Or maybe they will release another 360 exclusive later. Who knows.

      Isn't it by Namco? They've been favoring the 360 lately; this is indeed surprising. Well, it's no problem really: one exclusive Katamari for 360, one exclusive Katamari for PS3.

    Question is after the weird Noby Noby Boy we were given, do we really want another Katamri?
