Last Remnant, ironically dubbed Square Enix's first multiplatform title has still yet to hit the PS3, and indeed may never according to a Chris Kohler's recent experience at the GDC. When Square Enix's Hiroshi Takai was asked whether the PS3 version of the game was still happening, he was greeted with total silence. Though after its poor reception and average sales they wouldn't be blamed for dropping the game.

"The Last Remnant," I said, "was originally announced to be Square Enix's first multi-platform game. But the PlayStation 3 version hasn't come out yet. Is it still happening?"

Silence.

No one wants to speak. Finally, someone ventures: "Well, the PC version came out this week."

Me: "Yes, it did."

More silence. Everyone's kind of glancing around.

Takai: "Well, as for the PS3 version, I can't say anything about that."

Well, it is multiplatform now, at any rate.

There's also the fact the game's terrible.

edit: That wasn't in response to Akira. Reply box fail. D:

Releasing on the XBOX and PC and calling it multi-platform is like releasing FFCC:EoT on the DS and Wii, and calling it multi-platform, which was done. True, but very incestuous

WTF is going on with SE lately? I really hope that Level 5 puts them back on the right track......a little bit of competition is healthy.

Since the merger (and probably a little before) they've become far more concerned about whoring the audience they have than actually treating them and others to quality games. In other words, they don't want to risk delving into niche markets because ultimately it's the dollar that counts. We can whine all we want but as long as all the mediocre games they're making sell then they'll just keep it up.

Or maybe the fanbase has just gotten a lot more arrogant.

Not sure why you would see the need to make a comment like that. Is it too much for the fan base to want a game on another platform.......or even to at least get an answer as to where it is? Instead they can't even answer the questions in an interview regarding it?

I'm not willing to say it sucks when the majority of complaints seem to be GRAFFIX, loading times and "I'm too lazy to figure out formations."

I loved the graphics, I don't mind loading times, and I always take the time to figure out how the game dynamics work. But it still sucked.
