Wii-kly Update: Three New Classic Games Announced For Wii Shop Channel

Three new games were added to the Wii Shop Channel at 9AM PST:

  • Donkey Kong Country 2™: Diddy’s Kong Quest™ (SNES®, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • Streets of Rage™ 2 (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
  • Blazing Lazers (TurboGrafx16, 1 player, 600 Wii Points)

The elves mining Nintendo’s vaults for classic games have unearthed three new ones to add to the Wii Shop Channel. They feature ragers, lasers and, um, monkeys not in cages. Anyway, it’s unlikely that you’ve played all three of these, so go ahead and check ‘em out. Or the elves will cry.

The three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the channel every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets.

    Oh, Donkey Kong Country 2. I need to save up some Wii points to get it. I purchased the first one, so I might as well purchase the second one. I hope that it is good.

    "Nothing good"? I believe I heard some e-peen rise for Streets of Rage 2 but apparently Blazing Lazers was one of the best TG16 games.

    I downloaded DKC2. Brings back great memories and it was worth the points. But now I only have 100 Wii Points.

    Streets of Rage 1 & 2 are some of my favorite games during the mid '90s. I'll be sure to get this soon as I pick up my Wii.

    I remember making it to the final boss battle in DKC2, but never actually beating it. I must avenge my snes.

    Heh it's kind of the same with me. I got close to beating it on the SNES but my cousin stole it from me and stole it. I told him I have it on my Wii and now he wants to play it....

    Bleh I really need to get some more points soon, DKC2 is a classic. Streets of Rage also brings back some memories, though I am not familiar with Blazing Lazers.
