The TF2 official blog announced that the next class to be updated would be the Sniper. A lot of players could have thought to an April's Fool as the blog showed an image of the Sniper with a new weapon the 1st April. Apparently, it wasn't. No release date is given.

The developers are also updating the game on XBOX360, mainly for giving what the PC gamers have: the new achievements and unlockables. A technical problem was at the origin of the fact that the XBOX360 wasn't updating. The developers solved the matter and are working on it.

The XBox 360 update is still being worked on. If you're wondering what's taking so long, since the content is "done" on the PC already, it's mostly been around fitting it all onto the XBox. The original version of TF2 in the Orange Box was very close to the XBox's memory limit, and all the additional TF2 content we've produced has pushed well beyond it. We've found a couple of nifty ways to get back a bunch of that memory, but it's turned out to be a lot of work, and that's what most of our time is being spent on.

Well, I didn't believe in the jar of piss but I really read the pic after having posted the news on gamegrep. That's why I'm saying on my blog that the jarate is perhaps the real joke. The Sniper could have been a joke as a lot of people wanted a Spy update and probably believed that when seeing the pic. When the scout was coming, some believe that it's wasn't real, that it would be the spy instead...

But if the developers can exploit the idea of having something to counter the spy as sniper (see the spy comment), I would be happy. Spies are becoming too powerful or too hard to detect (with the ammo = adding invisibility and the possibility of showing another weapon...).

Sweet! I still need to get into the Scout pack, barely scratched the surface of it.

I suppose you're speaking for 360. Because on PC, I doubt that people stopped playing it .

Team Fortress 2 can only really be enjoyed on the PC.

How's that? Surely you guys still aren't using the whole "mouse and keyboard for FPS's ftw" argument.

I enjoyed it... when I played it. It just didn't stay active for long.

Well obviously because there's more options with the PC version. You can have your very own modified server, put in radio tracks to listen to whilst playing, get the lastest updates (bug fixes, balancing, etc.) in no time...list goes on and on about the advantages of the PC version.

It's faster, updates and fixes are far more frequent, and players are generally more competent on the PC.

      It's cheaper too.

      wat
the 360 still has quite a bit of activity. even if like 70% of it is 2fort.

2Fort? No Dustbowl? 2Fort can be boring when played too much. Hell, I love 2Fort when I can play sniper but not when I must choose another class, particulary medic (despite medic being my main class).

Well, if they can have Badwater Basin or Gold Rush or even Steel, it would change them from 2Fort.

i hate 2fort. it would be good, but engineers ruin it. the whole point of capture the flag is fending off your opponents and getting to their base at the same time. it's kinda pointless when both sides can just effortlessly set up sentry nests so its impossible for the QUICK classes to get the intelligence without getting gunned down by a machine with perfect aim and ridiculous stopping power.

still, load up orange box on your 360 and there will be a 2:1 ratio of 2fort:everythingelse, usually the everything else is just dustbowl.

The problem with 2Fort and Turbine is that the intel is behind the spawn, so it makes camping much easier than it should be.

Personally, my favourite maps are Badwater, Gravel Pit and Steel. I also like Egypt cause it plays unlike any other map I've played. However, it seems too big.

I don't have a 360, I'm a PC gamer, nearly exclusively PC if you except the fact that I have a GameBoy, a GBA, a DS and a PSP. But my main platform is PC.

My problem with 2Fort is not really the engi, when I'm playing it, I'm playing defense, I don't attack. No, my main problem is when I'm the only one besides engineer or snipers to stay behind for spychecking or for sewer checking. You know, I've already played a game where I was the only one worrying about the sentry and the teleporter in our sewers. The others didn't do anything to destroy it and were surprised to see so many enemies in the base.

I love Badwater and Dustbowl. Egypt and Junction is fine, though I need to adjust to them as I'm not a custom map player. I hate Turbine, for me, it's too small and Steel, it can be fine for a play but it's too nervous for me. Gravel Pit can be fine but I'm not a fan of it. I like Gold Rush when my team isn't letting me to be the sole engineer for defending. As for Well, I'm not a fan and I hate Granary.

Well, Granary was the first map they made, so obviously it's a little basic compared to some of the other CP maps.

Granary and Well play really well as Arena maps though.

It's not because it's basic, I just hate the map because of some bad memories when playing it, even if I got Lenin an Hand, Gorky Parked and Purge on a Granary Map and the three in a row. I prefer Well for that, even if I'm not a great fan of it since Quick Hook, the setup killing achievement for scout.
