Gamers in the PAL region who've never experienced the fabulous Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, or who dismissed it the first time round now have another opportunity, thanks to its arrival on the Wii's Virtual Console today.

Nintendo 64 classic The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is now available for download in Australia for 1000 point via Wii’s Virtual Console. The N64 classic was only re-released via the serviced in Japan very recently and comes as a pleasant surprise to Wii-owning Zelda fans everywhere. The sequel to the Nintendo 64 blockbuster Ocarina of Time was hailed for it’s unique passage of time mechanism- whereby Link is trapped in a Groundhog Day-like repeat of the same three days in which he has to stop the impending crashing of the moon.

The result was a complete twist on the traditional Zelda adventure gameplay and is argued by some to be superior to it’s Ocarina-playing predecessor. Missed out? Now you have no excuses, it’s time to re-live (and we really mean re-live!) the adventure.

I want this game bad! I never got to play Majora's Mask. And can't wait for it to come out for the US.

Before anyone comments on the 3-day system:

It doesn't hinder exploration, as say Metroid. Instead, it increases the amount you can explore. This is the only non sim-game to be in the 4th dimension. You can explore the same area over 72 'hours' and see several different things without ever leaving a room.

Anyone who complains about MM's time system clearly hasn't played it, at least, not without an open mind (the way NO ONE played Wind Waker).

I still have the origonal on the n64 too bad my controller joysticks are broken from all the extreme marioparty games. that reminds me i would love to play mario party 1 again. That is my favorite one in the series. So i can enjoy the pain of getting blisters on my hand again.

Lol, I had those same blisters. I don't know if I would want them again though.

      3 pwnt.

5 was nothing short of horrible.

The rest were quite average shovelware.

Although the memory of blisters does bring some nostalgia...

I have every single Zelda game out there, accept for Links crossbow training, Tetras trackers, and tingles rosy rupee land. Those are dumb and I don't even consider them to be real zelda games. I have beaten OoT at least 3 times, even once on master quest version, but this game is like impossible. I play it for like 2 weeks, then I get bored or something else comes up. I have never beaten this one, but I've done so to all the others. I think I've put in at least 20 hours in to it. Its REALLY tough. I think I have like 3 of the 4 masks. This game is just really hard with the time thing and all.

It's totally not hard, just different.
I dont find it any more difficult than OoT really.
Highly recommend beating it anyway -- possibly the best ending in the series.

That is extremely stupid on your part. I wish I had the originals, but to get MM on N64, you need like some kind of expansion pack thin. And, I know its not hard, its just different like you said. I didn't like this one as much as I did others because of the time thing. I thought it was very very annoying. I loved the 2-D Zelda ones on the Game boy and GBC. Those I think along with OoT, are the best.

Though many people consider this one of the worst Zelda games ever, I absolutely love this game. It's so much fun.

See my posts as for why. Those who say as such haven't given it a chance.

They ALWAYS say that the time element ruins exploration, rather than realising the truth.

Ultimate truth! Majora's Mask is the light. I hope all the children see the way someday.

(Yeah, I'm feeling strange..but I do think people should play it!)

I can't imagine people preferring Zelda II over Majora's Mask. =0
