Bayonetta is an upcoming third person Hack-n-Slash game from the creator of DMC, letting you take the role of a female character (who seems to look like a librarian) with moves to make dante worry. The Director of the game came and saying that he hopes that people will find the game 'sadistically' hard. I'm all up for a challenge, but there is a fine line between having fun with a hard game, too downright frustrating.

Director Hideki Kamiya wants to be upfront about his new project, Bayonetta, as much as possible and wants to let gamers know what they're getting into. "With Bayonetta, we would hate for someone to think it is a heartwarming tale and then buy the game to discover it is really a sadistically hard game (I hope...)," says Kamiya in his first entry on Bayo-Blog.

Kamiya warns not to let the gentle-looking female lead fool you, pointing out that Bayonetta is full of "hardcore battle action." We think this comes through clearly enough

If it's like DMC4, it won't be that hard. If it's like DMC3, yeah, it'll be hard.

As long as it has difficulty levels which make it at least possible to do by the average human I'm fine.

That or they could just go with two difficulty levels. "Normally Sadistic" and "Truly Sadistic". Or something along those lines.

"Sadistically hard"? Is it really necessary? They should make it hard and challenging, but from the sound of it, they're looking to make a frustating experience. They should look at Uncharted Crushing- Hard, challenging, but a lot of fun.

Exactly. There should be a point where a game is too hard to actually call it fun. Sometimes its more of a chore than anything. I hope for their sake they know what they're doing.

Doesn't matter, God of War is coming to save the genre from following in Ninja Gaiden's footsteps. You know, where storyline exists and character design is not supposed to try to be overly stylish where it comes off as totally *bleep* and there's reasonably sized boobs...

Oh yeah, and the gameplay requires more than cranking the difficulty bad enough that it needs retries to make the game longer.

Yeah, NG2 *bleep*ed up the series, but GoW is not going to save the genre. It'll take a lot more than that. Sigma 2 looks to redeem the NG series, Tecmo can still choke and die though. DMC slacked off with 4, NG slacked off with 2. God of War is a good game, but not genre-saving good. Playstation saving good, not genre-saving good.

Not that I'm getting the game or have any interest in it, but . . . yeah there's a line between Challenging and so frustrating that you decide to take the game out and break it into a million pieces, vowing to get revenge on the creators of the game and never buying another one.

Let's hope for difficulty levels: "Hard" "Really Hard" and "MWAHAHAHA!"

nah i think the difficulty levels are 'hyped', 'overhyped', and 'saying ridiculous bullshit so people will talk about it and be compelled to buy it'
