Riddick Reborn on Xbox 360 and PS3

gamefreak101 | May 22, 2007 | News | Playstation 3 XBOX 360
Sierra Entertainment has confirmed that Riddick is returning, this time on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Assault on Dark Athena is actually a remake of the 2004 Xbox action game, The Chronicles of Riddick, only now it's in HD. It will contain additional gameplay and storyline elements, as well as multiplayer elements.
Tomorrow morning Sierra Entertainment will officially confirm what the world has known for weeks: that Vin Diesel's badass fugitive, Richard B. Riddick is coming to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

Briefly shown this past weekend on the Spike TV show, Game Head, Assault on Dark Athena is, in actuality, a remake of the 2004 Xbox actioner, The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay... only now it's in HD.

Developed once again by the team at Starbreeze Studios, Dark Athena will revisit most of the content found in the original "Butcher Bay" edition and expand upon it with additional gameplay and storyline elements. These extra trimmings don't just apply to the single-player experience either -- an all-new multiplayer element will be included as well.

Specific details about the game's new features are still being kept under wraps, but Sierra has let slip that "Dark Athena" is in fact the name of a mercenary vessel captained by a she-pirate named Revas and manned by a horde of powerful slave warriors.

As scarce as additional information may be, IGN was still granted an interview with the development team, which is set for publish this Friday. As a bonus, the piece will be accompanied by several minutes of in-game direct feed footage and even more screenshots than the images that debuted this evening.

Keep those [shiny, night-vision-powered] eyes peeled.

The game looked amazing on the Xbox, so I can't wait to see what they can do with the newer consoles. I had a lot of fun playing it. I loved the freedom of killing all those punks at the beginning

Enjoyed the first game, and the screens look promising. Looks like it'll be a hit. Maybe it'll get more praise and consumers this time around.

Lucky for me I haven't played it yet. Something to add to the next gen' library when released.

Take a neutral point of view for once finalblade98, then you might notice what bullshit you spit out.

The game looks pretty impressive, though I never had chance to play the previous game though from other comments it seems that it was a hit. Sounds like this'll do the same honours.

Rofl. At least I'm not the only one who noticed.

Oh and a fanboy (in your sense of the word) trolls every topic imaginable proclaiming their favorite console to be superior no matter how ridiculous they may sound in the process.

And people consistently call you a fanboy the entire time.
