After a long drawn out silence to the fans Nintendo has decided not to publish Fatal Frame IV, the Japan confined Wii survival horror game which was released midway through last year for North America. Tecmo has shown disappointment at this move, but it appears the word is final. Sorry Gothic Girl.

Nintendo holds the publishing rights to ‘Fatal Frame Wii,’ which was developed by Tecmo LTD. and Grasshopper Manufacture and released in Japan on July 31, 2008. Nintendo of America has since then decided not to publish the title in North America – consequently, the title will not be released in this territory.

Owch, burn to the fans. Somewhere in Australia, a Gothic Girl weeps. Seriously though, the source doesn't mention why. Did the previous Fatal Frame games not do too well in North America?

Fatal Frame II and III were awesome.

They weren't blockbusters, but they sold well enough to get 3 sequels.

Well, at least it's good to know once and for all that it's not coming, and we can settle down now.

Did they really think a statement like this would settle disputes? All people would ask now is, why?

    *bleep* YOU NINTENDO!

And then when I thought that maybe PAL regions would get it, sites are reporting that Nintendo of Europe also won't be publishing it. And apparently have no plans of relinquishing the rights of the game to another publisher. I mean, what the shit? WHY?

Oh well. At least I can hope that Tecmo will be smart next time round and bring the next Fatal Frame game back to the Playstation and Xbox. At least Sony and Microsoft know how to treat their third-party titles properly. Still, it's a shame that Wii owners won't at least get to play one FF title.

I'm gonna go sit in the corner and sulk for a bit. >_>

This is what Tecmo gets for putting the game on the Wii in the first place, if it was released on the 360 or PS3 it would have came out in the US/EUR months ago.

Nintendo really are idiotic bastards when it comes down to good games.
