It's no surprise that Grand Theft Auto contains drugs - but not real ones.

Shocked Cheltenham dad Richard Thornhill opened the box after buying the game for his son. It contained four wrapped ecstasy tablets. Gamestation, a major retailer with 240 stores in the UK, has launched a probe.

Richard Thornhill, 34, bought two pre-owned Xbox titles with his 12-year-old son Jamie from retail giant Gamestation in Cheltenham, Gloucs.

lol, ironically, from all the games, GTA has to be the one with drugs inside the case.

I've read this, and it seems that no one's concerned about the fact that this guy bought two GTA games - rated "18" - for his twelve year old son... isn't that normally the witch hunt?

What's more, that quote about the "Mitsubishi logo"... I'm guessing he's taken a few himself in his time, 'cause I wouldn't have known that.

I thought Mitsubishi was the name of a Car?
I didn't know a company that makes cars also made Drugs? ?

Because he didn't buy the game for his son. It was for himself, as the Xbox 360 is the father's, and his son merely plays it on occasion.

That's not what it says in the article...

"A SHOCKED dad bought a computer game for his son from a high street store — and found four ECSTASY tablets inside the box."

Depends on your source, then, as a number of other articles suggest the game (or games, since he bought two) was for himself, and not his son.

Additionally, he went to the store with his brother on that Sunday, not his kids. You've also quoted the headline, and nowhere in the article do they readdress that.

Jeez, don't say you have never bought an 18 rated game when you were a lil' snapper, I still do...

Well, I don't know if I have bought a +18 when I was underage but I do know that I played some games that weren't for my age back then. Perhaps one or two years under. I don't know if playing Doom II at 12 years is something good or not but I did anyway.

I can say it all I want, because I didn't.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone but honestly? I would be FUMING if this happened to me. That drug isn't exactly a walk in the park and isn't exactly even just slightly harmful --- that drug is dangerous and can be extremely harmful!

What if indeed a kid opened it up, didn't exactly know what it was (or did) and took that stuff? Chances are pretty high that death could be the result.

OR on another side, the authorities could have caught that stuff in my possession (when I didn't realize it was in my possession) and no amount of "I didn't know that was there!" would be convincing.

Look on the bright side: whoever stashed their E in the manual/box must be kicking themselves REALLY hard.

I can only hope he is indeed kicking himself. I just hope he didn't do it on purpose as in to get rid of them, or to actually do someone some harm. I know it'd have to take someone who can easily get that stuff, to do something like that (otherwise the person would probably definitely want to keep it since it'd cost him/her more).

That has my interest now. I hope they catch the person, and make it public the reason WHY he/she put the drugs in there. Hopefully it was indeed accidental.

This is why I don't buy used electronics.

    quote
I know they are ecstasy tablets because they have the Mitsubishi sign on top of them.
This guy knows his esctasy, apparently.

Yes, because every other game I've bought has had drugs or some other contraband.

Perhaps the circumstances are different overseas, but I've bought many used games in Australia and have found almost all of them to be of very good quality, and certainly not packed with any surprises.
