IGN and several sources in German reported that JoWood Production and Homegrown Games revealed the next installment in the Painkiller series, Painkiller Resurrection. Exit Daniel Garner, the hero from the original Painkiller and its add-on, Painkiller Battle out of Hell, and exit Belial, the hero from Painkiller Overdose, meet Wild Bill, a secret agent that killed himself in order to protect innocent people and who will find himself into the eternal war between Paradise and Hell.

The game is set for a release in the fourth quarter of this year on PC. A port on XBOX 360 is also planned, though it will be sometimes after the PC release.

The big difference here is that the player is going to be tossed back and forth as part of a larger war between the heavenly and hellish factions. Bill will find both groups desire his services but as every Painkiller fan knows, there's only one way this fight can end, and that's with Wild Bill standing on the top of a very large pile of bodies.
