With the release date set for Wii MotionPlus (June 8th) comes now the announcement of the first game to use this new feature.... Virtua Tennis 2009.

Sega's Virtua Tennis appears to be what gives! It'll ship on May 19, 2009, making it the very first title on the market to support Wii MotionPlus. Of course, you can play it without MotionPlus, or... there'd not be much point in picking it up on May 19. In addition, two other games supporting MotionPlus will be out before Wii Sports Resort: Electronic Arts's Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. Both of the EA games ship on June 16.

How much you want to bet Sega sells about twice as many Virtua Tennis 2009s over this than they would have otherwise? Fans who want to test out the MotionPlus on the day it ships won't have any other games to play. Given Nintendo and Sega's cozy relationship these days, I imagine that may be by design.
