Pirates of The Caribbean Director Leaves Pirates 4 in Favour on Bioshock Movie

Thats right, Gore Verbinsk has moved on from Pirates. He no longer will direct Pirates 4 and instead wants to focus all his efforts on another movie. An adaption of the popular Bioshock. Bad news? Good News? up to you has a wholeheartedly enjoyed the Pirates movies.

The reason is Verbinski wants to concentrate on his other projects. The first of these will be Bioshock, the film adapation of 2K Games' hugely popular FPS. That film is expected to begin production in 2010 and if nothing else, it sounds like Verbinski is 100% committed to this project, which can only be good news for Bioshock fans.

    Movies based off games are big these days, huh?

    Pity. Pirates 4 under him would have been awesome. I wonder who they'll hire to replace him.

      I agree, I would prefer an original movie to one based off of a video game, 'cause let's face it, Bioshock the movie will probably suck.

        Yup . . . I would have preferred the Pirates movie. Though I'm still hoping both will be pretty good movies, I now doubt either one will be decent

    there still going to make pirates 4, just with a different director. PLus isn't the story going to focus more on jack, barbossa, his brother and the fountin of youth? thats what I have heard.

      Yeah, I'm pretty sure the whole "Will Turner and Elizabeth" saga is over; it's all about Sparrow now.

    Pirates 2 was FRUCKIN AWESOME and the third one was just a little bit "out there" but still good. Unfortunately a fourth movie makes it more like a one-season TV series with really long episodes that are a couple years apart. Trilogy = epic, Quadrilogy = overkill. But that's just my opinion.

    As far as the director, I think he's a dick. So he says he's 100% committed? If you were sleeping with a married woman, and she left her husband to be with you, who says she won't do the exact same to you?

    If they can somehow get over the 'games make shit movies' thing I reckon a Bioshock movie would be pretty awesome tbh.

    I thought pirates was a trilogy lol.

    Bioshock could work. Personally would have preferred System Shock, but either is fine.

    Pirates is a horse that isn't quite dead yet, but will be very very soon - glad he decided to move on.

    Bioshock's got an amazing story, and the movie actually has a good director.

    And the screenplay writer is the guy who wrote Gladiator.

    I personally don't want a Pirates 4, seems a bit like their milking the film now that the trilogy is over. Bioshock has a big budget, and I personally would have chosen it over P4.
