Naughty Dog is really going to be pushing the PS3, and their engine. They are going to work to make everything look nice and they are not planning on leaving snow behind. They want to impress you with the snow as much as they did with the water in Uncharted 1. I can't wait to see this in action.

"With Uncharted 2 and the Naughty Dog Engine 2 we can do much more, do it better and do it faster," said Wells. "For example, we can see more polygons on screen, which allows us to create areas with even more detail than in the previous game."

"In addition, we save no effort when it comes to the rendering of snow in Uncharted 2. It should be a banner to me to be the prettiest snow you have ever seen in a game!"

Given that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is one of the most beautiful and graphically advanced titles seen this generation, it will be interesting to see what Naughty Dog can bring to the table for the sequel

Not many next gen games have snow these days, too hard to look good. I guess Naughty Dog like to give themselves a challenge

I am liking the fact that they are trying to pull this off with Uncharted 2. Many games cannot pull that realistic aura to snow.

Why bring that up? Nothing can beat that. The snow even accumulated on his freakin mustache, his Octocamo, his FaceCamo...for chrissakes if he rolled in it it would stick to him. If they're gonna top that then they're gonna need to make Drake get frostbite!

I'm pretty sure they'll be able to do that. After all, Drake got wet after going in water.

Though while snow build up was on his person the actual snow in the scene was flat and very last generation. There was no fluidity to it nor any displacement that you get with thick real snow. We have already seen what the snow in this game will look like, the teaser trailer from the start was in-engine like everything they do at Naughty Dog, the snow Drake was walking through will be like that in-game.

I didn't get that good look of the snow, but I know for sure that they wouldn't have been able to allow that many flakes on screen at one time last-gen. I bet there were atleast 5000 flakes blowing around on screen at once, and in a very blizzard-like fasion. And besides, who actually studies what the flakes look like? I'm not saying ND won't be able to do that, I just find it hard to believe they're gonna be able to out-do it.

I think it's really good that this studio pays so much attention to the environmental details - first the water, and now the snow. When you really immerse the player like that, it just adds so much more to the experience. I've never even played Uncharted, but I might just have to rent it next time I'm at the store.

I'd buy it. It's a game you can get many plays out of and is really cheap these days. It'll look good as part of a collection, it certainly looks good in mine.
