More than just a rumor, Harmonix, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The Lego Group and MTV Games have announced that Lego Rock Band is for real and that it's coming to the PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 and DS this holiday season.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, TT Games, The Lego Group, Harmonix and MTV Games are forming a supergroup of developers and publishers to bring Lego Rock Band to the PlayStation 3, Wii and Xbox 360 this holiday season. A DS version is also in the works and it will be developed by Backbone Entertainment (who are also working on Rock Band Unplugged for the PSP).

Kinda already knew about this. Been rumors hovering for months now. But it looks neat.

Wonder when the songs will hit the RB store. And could we replace Pink's "So What" with Metallica's "So What"?

I'd be interested in what kind of "family friendly" lyrics they would have to come up with to stick in that song.

this is going to have to have a hell of a song list to persuade me to buy it...surely Harmonix will bring these songs out of the RB2 music store, but then again I suppose that would defeat the point of making a new game

I'm seeing all the comments saying how stupid this is, but consider this, whoever made this, is a freakin genius. Think of all the sticky fingered 5 year olds and 45 year olds that are gonna see this and go *bleep* YEH LEGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and repeatedly buy any game; Lego indiana jones, Lego star wars, Lego Rock Band, Lego Bible stories, Lego generic genre title, Lego let's all pay another 30 quid for a lego rip off game, just for the fact that it's Lego. Stupid, yes. pointless, yes. But still, Genius man. Genius.

Seriously...I though Activision was doing bad with the Guitar Hero franchise...but even they wouldn't do something as stupid as this! WTF is the point?

dont be so sure. they did after all, make 2 games based exclusively on very mediocre bands (Aerosmith and Metallica), while Harmonix on the other hand scored the friggin BEATLES, arguably the greatest rock and roll band of all time.

oh and also they are making DJ Hero!

The move to delay Rock Band 3 just got stupid

I must say that Harmonix 'so far' has done everything right (except for their horrid overseas release date policy ), but this is a slip up imo.

Meh. The point is to make money with groups they normally don't make money from. And since it won't affect or disrupt my gameplay I don't really care. We still get regular DLC updates. And I'm sure at some point these songs will be available for RB2 or 3. It is all good.

And Ameer has a good point. Lego themed instruments could be cool. Want something unique to play there you go. Always better to have a first party controller.

Hah, so the rumours were real. Lego Rock Band for PS3, XBOX360, Wii and DS. Rock Band Unplugged for PSP. Hmmm... I think I'll go for unplugged.

Hm, still absolutely no interest in Rock Band for me. It'd be absolutely awesome to hear though that you can take apart the songs and mix them up like you can customize the characters . . . hahaha.

Of course, that would hardly present family-friendly songs

Lego Rock Band? How in the hell is that necessary in any way?

Lego Star Wars pulled it off, and even Lego Batman did, but Lego Rock Band singing popular songs just sounds wayyy too far-fetched.

My first thought is this is incredibly stupid. Maybe they will pull it off.

If you're going to ask that you might as well ask how GH: Metallica or Aero Smith is necessary. Especially in this day and age when DLC is so easy. It is all about making money. Lego Rock Band is really going to be little more than a graphical change. But people will buy it. For one people like Lego games, two people like rythme games. When you have two popular genres going it only makes sense to try and combine them if you can. Then you have double the fan base to pull from.
