PSN to SEN: Time to rage quit? - DarkFeed

According to these guys, the Wii's best weapon is its simplicity. So in this hard battle of new generation chips, incredible graphics, and everything, the Wii is most likely to win. As you know, the controller isn't complicated to use, and all ages appear to really easily take to the console.
Wii is going to beat the competition because powerful chips and graphics have yet to motivate PS3 and Xbox 360 sales, according to Nintendo Of America's George Harrison. Fun trumps all.
"Were starting to see in the performance of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 that thats not necessarily motivating the market the way it used to," he explained in an interview with Bloomberg. "So were going to start work on future technology only when we believe its necessary."
Harrison went on to say that Nintendo will reach its goal of selling 35 million Wii units by 2011 or 2012. The company is boosting production in China in order to keep up with the overwhelming demand for the next-gen console.
"Demand is much greater than we anticipated," he said. "A year ago no one thought we would be in this position."
Is there anything more inspiring than a comeback story?

But I tend to agree, I love complicated or techie toys but the mass market prefers simplicity and ease-of-use. If I have to explain for 15 minutes how to play a game, people lose interest. "So what does the X button do again??" If I say put this controller on, point it at the tv and move your hand people can do that.
In the end, the system wars will come down to which system has the best games, just like it always has. Graphic power has never been a good measure of a system's market success or failure, and I doubt this generation will be any different.
Also as I have said countless times now. People are predicting which system will win to early! The consoles haven't been out for to long except the 360 but if it's going to follow how the Gc/PS2/Xbox gen went. It should go on for another 6 years and we are only into a small chunk of that.
Either way, the Wii's controls could might as well prove to be a pain in the ass for Third Party games (it already is) so they really have to rely on themselves again now more than ever, not to mention that if a game is too over-simplified then it will lose its flare sooner than later.
As a hardcore gamer, I don't buy this. Btw, the PS3 doesn't freeze often, probably once a few weeks. (At least for me)
Oh, and I suppose since you are "hardcore" you don't use a computer mouse, since it is designed to be a simple interface to the computer, replacing complex key based commands.
Let's try GRAW 2, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4...If the Wii can actually even find a suitable configuration for Rainbow Six: Vegas alone, THEN it can PROBABLY handle anything. Personally, I see more limits than I see opportunities, which is why Nintendo's first party games are the only ones to really thrive off them.
The Wii's games are every bit as "real" as PS3's and 360's. And overall, they're every bit as fun as well. The Wii's simplicity is alright, and other than the graphics department, simplicity cannot really be disadvantage. Not in Nintendo's case, at least.
Anyway, please just try to think clearly for a moment. PS3 isn't selling well not only do to a high price, but also a lack of big name games. The only real game that comes to mind for the system is Resistance, which I have heard is not all that good, especially in comparison with other FPS like Gears of War. Once some AAA titles such as Final Fantasy and Grand Theft Auto hit the system, sells will pick up.
The PS3 is fine with titles, unless you have a 360 with you, with Resistance, Oblivion, MotorStorm, Sports games, and downloadable games (compare that with the first few months of the other consoles). Now if you don't have the money, then obviously you're not going to be able to enjoy the whole thing.
There's 2 things you need for every console now: An Internet connection and a credit card.
It's easy to see what's going on though, Nintendo's attracting a load of casual players though party games and things like that, it's fine and all, but how long do you think it's gonna last? It's highlight is still Twilight Princess and that lost it's glow a long time ago, it's other serious games like Far Cry Vengeance and Red Steel REALLY aren't to par with today's games.
I still don't buy this "simplicity" thing. My guess is that the price is the main factor here, obviously a lot of people would choose the 360 or PS3 if they all had the same price.
I should also mention, all of the big 3rd party development companies, Konami, Capcom, Rockstar, SquareEnix, Sega, etc., have revealed Wii projects in development. Wii is getting just as much, if not more support as the other consoles.
I'm not saying that graphics are everything, but just think about what the 360 and PS3 games will look like over the next two years.
Next question.
The reason it's selling so well is because people are so goddamn inquisitive about it. I myself really considered buying a Wii back in November, because I was just so curious about the whole motion sensing concept. What people don't realise is that the number of Wii owners who are already 'over' their Wii's is pretty high. Most people I know who have a Wii are already bored of it, and have gone back to playing their Xbox's and PS3's. if this continues, will the Wii last? Well, I don't think it will. With the poor game library & lack of third party titles, the Wii's sales should really slump in the next 12-16 months.
Nintendo and Sony were working in a multimedia thingy, but something went wrong, and Sony create its own videogames becasuse of that.
Nintendo has gone back to basics with the Wii. They have gone back and reinvented the idea of a home console, just like they did 25 years ago with the NES.
What the hell? If I want to listen to music I'll use my mp3" player." If I want to watch a movie I'll use my "DVD player."
Or are those too "primitive" for you Sony fanboys?
Since I do proclaim myself as a fanboy, thanks for generalizing, Nintendo fanboy. The way I see it:
Multimedia Players > Stand Alone Players
Then again, that's just me.
Graphics aren't everything and even so, they could improve them if they wanted for the Wii.
Finalblade, you shouldn't talk about being ignorant. You have been ignorant ever since you showed up.
