The 20gb model hasn't been sold in Europe, and it appears that they will soon stop selling them in the US as well.
Good news for all seeing how much was missing from the console.
After the $499 edition of the next-gen console is removed from the Sony Style Web site, Sony confirms the console is being phased out.
"Initial retail demand in North America was upwards of 90 percent in favor of the 60GB [PS3], so we manufactured and shipped-in accordingly," said Dave Karraker, Sony Computer Entertainment America's senior director of PR. "Due to the overwhelming demand for the 60GB model from both retailers and consumers, we have ceased offering the 20GB model here in North America." The 60GB model retails for $599 in the US.

I always go for the big stuff, like the 60GB model.
It's not too much of a loss, but those on a budget probably won't like the idea of having to either pay through the nose or forgo the PS3 for cheaper consoles.
20GB = $500
60GB = $600
That's a load of crap! You're telling me they expected people to buy a version that has a third of its power for only a $100 difference!?
>.> No wonder no one bought it...
$100 can get you a lot more than 40GB of storage anyway.
But hey, to each their own.
And however much money I was spending I wouldn't be inclined to spend an extra $100 on something I wouldn't use (if I felt I was not going to use over 20GB).
As I said, I am surprised it made that much of a difference to the American buyers, although I suppose many people would have gone for the 60GB one as a sort of status symbol. After all, the higher the number the better?
