This is the latest report about the phone industry. It seems that many phone companies are at a loss due to the economic crisis, but some companies (like Apple) are managing to survive. The Apple iPhone is currently thriving.

The sales of mobile phones plummeted by a record amount in the first quarter of 2009.

The number of phones shipped worldwide in the first three months of the year dropped by 13% from the same period last year.

All of the five biggest mobile phone-makers had drops in sales, selling around 245 million units in total.

Apple's iPhone was an exception, posting a 123% annual gain in sales.

That's understandable, I mean people are going to want to spend their money on better things now, and if they're like me, they feel they're fine with their current one and to buy a new one would be a waste.

And that's likely why the iPhone is thriving, because it's got what people want so they don't feel money's being wasted as such.

Yeah I know,, I just pointed out something pretty obvious but that's my comment for this article.

I myself can't think of anything more another mobile phone could offer other than the iPhone has now. Superpowers is it.

It's the recession, people aren't going to buy phones willy-nilly anymore and if they need a new one why not buy one that does just about everything.

Maybe it's because nearly everyone has a bloody mobile now, eh?

Can't expect lots of sales, so many people have them, and all the phones I've ever bought have been used for calling and nothing else, I rarely use the other features.
