Infamous was scheduled for a May 26th release. However, if you look hard enough, you may be able to find the Playstation 3 exclusive title at retail right now as some stores has broken the street date.

At least two different people were able to somehow acquire a copy of Infamous more than three weeks early.

What! The only place that might do that near me isn't even around anymore, I don't think. Damnit, I'll have to wait.

If they're selling now, then why do we have to wait another three weeks for the official release?

Because those people who are selling it now aren't supposed to. Plus, Sony could take legal action against them for selling the game early.

I'm just wondering why retailers can't just sell them as soon as they get them.

Because they sign a contractual agreement for them not to sell it before the publisher states.

It'd be nice for us gamers, as long as we like the game and we get the knowledge early enough to get it ourselves.

But for the devs, it's bad because it takes away from their release sales and really if there's no set date, there's kinda no way to have release sales at all.

Also bad for the gamers who don't know the game is released (they don't keep up with the news, don't think about calling stores --- or are too busy for such), because it's anyone's guess as to when they get the game, since there's no "This game will be in on ____ date."

Get what I mean? I mean it'd be nice in theory for us to get games we like, as soon as the stores get them. But . . . it turns out to be worse if you think about it.

I feel sorry for Sucker Punch, this takes a lot of thunder out of their title, which they have worked on for years.

    Hello lawsuit

Hello lawsuit indeed, though I must say those "at least two" people are lucky! If only they'd post some gameplay footage on Youtube.
