At a recent London press event, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase told videogamer.com that the West will not recieve the demo on a Blu-Ray disc, as Japan did.
But Kitase did say that there is a possibility the demo will be up for download in the West instead.

Discuss in the FFXIII forum

Yoshinori Kitase, producer on the hotly anticipated Final Fantasy XIII, has told VideoGamer.com that Square Enix has no plans to release a Blu-ray demo of the game outside of Japan.

“But we hear that the demo version normally means something that you can download in the West, so that is a possibility we would like to check.”

I really hope they give us the demo in some form. It would be a huge mistake on their part if they didn't, as they would let down a large part of their market.

I'm still getting FFVII: AC Complete though.

TBH, if we ever do get a demo I doubt it'll be the same as the one just released considering how old it is/would be.

Why would it cost any money? Its a demo, what kind of heartless bastards would make people pay for 1/40th-ish of a game?

I don't think its fair for people to pay for a demo when the real thing would be coming out sooner or later.

If Square Enix keeps this up, they probably might lose fans all over. But they got their games pretty downpack.

    Some demos are like that.

      What else is it then?

      Half a game?

I don't know if you were being sarcastic or not in your previous post, but yea some would consider it half a game. Would you still call it a demo if Gran Turismo never existed beforehand? I also have never played a demo that received updates and consistent support.
