According to Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete will not be the end of the Final Fantasy VII universe, as previously thought.

Square Enix's Yoshinori Kitase has admitted that the Japanese software giant may end up developing yet more additions to the Final Fantasy VII universe, despite the fact the release Advent Children Complete on Blu-ray was supposed to signal the end of any FFVII-related productions.

I think its fair to say no one previously thought the FFVII compilation was going to end with Advent Children Complete. The secret ending to Dirge of Cerberus makes that abundantly clear.

With Dirge of Cerberus's open ending, this was bound to happen at some time. The only way I can see Squeenix's salvaging the mediocre mess that is the FFVII Compilation is if they give us an epic RPG that follows the events of DoC.

I wish I could feel hyped at the idea of another FFVII game. But now that the compilation excitement died down years ago, it's hard to be. I'll just cross my fingers and hope that they don't screw it up.

How much more longer can they keep this up for?! They should focus on some other Final Fantasies now, VIIs surely got enough to it by now?

Well, I suppose it could have a better end than the one in Advent Children.

One more movie should be the last thing for FFVII though. Think what you want, but I personally think they should focus on the other games now.

I remember SE saying FF7 was going to be a 20 year thing.

We still have a few to go guys.

They can't be trusted with any promises. They're against a wall, and VII's their favored money tree. Funny how Finalblade mentions they don't have the manpower/staff. I've known this for years (watched real closely). It's the one reason they've been milking VII with easy to assemble add-on parts rather than making a full game sequel, let alone a remake (as it wouldn't stand up to the original, which was such a pivotal venture (put them back on the map, afterall), that after their downsizing a remake could completely break their back if it failed).

It's an enormous risk - the safe way out for them is to keep making new additions to VII (sell no matter what), go multiplatform (yay nintendo), and oversaturate (how many XIII's is that going to be?) You ask me, I doubt their ability write their way out of a paper bag. I think they know it too.

If demand increases and they decide to go for it, they can always blame the fans.

I don't get what the fans are so upset about. Ever since the original game came out, everyone wanted "moar seven!" and you're getting it. You all should be jumping for joy (and I mean for real, unlike Onvacation).
