Some good news for Turismo fans. New features have been announced for Gran Turismo 5. These are, as the title states a weather cycle and night races. These features will truly bring a variety and different feel to each of the races.

You don’t have to decrypt any secret messages for this tidbit of news! Coming straight from Kazunori Yamauchi himself, weather changes and night racing can be expected soon. GTPlanet user MGR managed to dig up the following interview with Yamauchi-san, conducted by Audi. It’s part of the Audi R8 Meets Gran Turismo 5 mini-site and documentary, which gives two professional drivers the opportunity to compare the R8 in both the real and virtual world (also check out the video - including footage of the Nurburgring Nordschleife running in GT5: Prologue - on GTPlanet’s YouTube Channel). Unfortunately, the video is in German, but Yamauchi’s interview is in print and can easily be translated. In addition to dynamic weather and lighting, he also reiterates the inclusion of damage. Here’s what he had to say…

I love Gran Turismo! I still need to find the best excuse to get a PS3, but my conscience tell me not to since I pretty much only want one for this exact game.

But I would love to try it out with weather cycle, when the opportunity comes I'm gonna take it wihout second thoughts.

So we've got full-scale car damage, weather cycles, day/night cycles, online, and the best graphics and the best racing simulator on consoles. Can't WAIT!

Eh, shouldn't really have had to.

IMO, a fair bit of that should have already been done. I may actually pick this one up though.

This title can take a whole generation to arrive.
After all, its going to last over the generations to come.

    Seriously..the game is packed!

They've yet to tell us the most important feature of the game: its release date.

I think they told us last year that it'd be out in 2010. Whatever. Just Get it done. I can wait.

To be honest I'm really not a fan of ultra-realistic driving simulators. Sure, it's realistic, but it's just not fun. It's irritating. Now that's just my personal opinion; maybe some people like to play video games that are horifically punishing, and don't get me wrong, racing games do need a lot of skill involved (I'm talking to you, Mario Kart). Personally I'm really looking forward to this one.

It's nice to hear about the weather cycle and stuff, but come on, release the game for the PS3 owners out there! Personally, I prefer Forza and can't wait for Forza 3.

Now they have a problem : if they want to make the damage as realistic as the car modeling , it's going to take thousand hours of research and work.
