Activision has officially announced new details for Guitar Hero 5 and it looks like they're taking from Harmonix's playbook by making Guitar Hero: World Tour downloadable track forward-compatible with all of the upcoming Guitar Hero 5's new features and modes.

The other big reveal is that all Guitar Hero: World Tour downloadable tracks will be forward-compatible with Guitar Hero 5. They will also be updated to "include all of the upgrades and enhancements of Guitar Hero 5." However, a "limited number of songs" will not be upgradeable, likely due to rights issues with Rock Band.
