skate is said to give us what Tony Hawk has lacked. A True skating experience. No longer will we be skating in the city streets where there are ramps all over the place. It will be up to you, the skater to find the perfect spots for your jumps and tricks. Using a new control set up in a world as big as any Grand Theft Auto City, Skate sure looks to be something great.

Skating games have never had a "sim" version that's grounded firmly in reality. From Skate or Die to 720° to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, skating games have pushed the limits of credulity, always favoring an arcade experience. EA's upcoming skate is going to change that by offering skating in as real a form as has ever been seen in videogames. But just because skate is grounded in reality doesn't mean developer Black Box doesn't get to have a little fun when creating its skater dream city San Vanelona. This is after all, still a game.

In talking with Executive Producer Scott Blackwood and his dedicated team of skate fanatics, we learned that the dual-analog control scheme wasn't the endgame for innovation. The skate team hopes to create an immersive experience where gamers truly feel like a pro skater in a living, breathing world. If nothing else, skate offers an alternative to the reigning king of extreme sports games. Been there, done that? Not with skate you haven't.

They sure are setting the standards for this game pretty high. I can't wait until a trailer is released so that we can catch a first glimpse of this game.

@JAX: They have released a trailer already, but it's pretty short and unsatisfying. Check it out at Gametrailers.com.

For people like me who have been used to Tony Hawk games for years, it'll probably take a while just to get used to the realism of Skate. (It sounds kinda weird, but it's true).

Sounds like they'll actually make a skating game worth noting. I was never really a fan of the Tony Hawk series, but this game may change things by the sounds of it. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

I'm really interested in this game. I'm so used to the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games but Skate sounds tight. Now we gotta use our minds to find the perfect place to skate. I'm looking forward to hearing more information on Skate and can't wait to see some videos.

    SICK. SICK. SICK.

Ever since back in the day, I've been saying 'they need to make a realistic skating game'. It's about freakin time!

I've only like the Tony Hawk games for the PS1. The rest I hated.

But this sounds pretty good. Hopefully it turns out good.

This looks pretty cool. The first few Tony Hawks were fun, but they kinda got boring. But this should be interesting.

This sounds really interesting, I may purchase it. I've always been a fan of Tony Hawks series ever since I was little, now there's a new game around, I can't see no reasonnot to get it

I thought Tony Hawk got boring...fast...I played the first one on PS1 and got the 2nd one later, then after that I just really thought they were old and boring...im really looking forward to skate though. It is going to be good to have a new skating game built from the ground up.

In a world as big as GTA? Bloody hell, this is looking awesome. The Tony Hawk series has really been getting worse and worse since the Pro Skater games, so this should hopefully be a breath of fresh air!

I think the Tony Hawk games are OK, but I will definitely try this game.

The Tony Hawk games have lacked recently, I am only really into the older games. But wow, areas as big as GTA? That sure is something to say. I hope this game is a hit.

I have seen a lot about this. Looks pretty sweet. I've never really been in to skate games though. Maybe because they were too unrealistic. This could change things.

I hope this would be a sweet game. I am a huge fan of tony hawk and such. The new one for ps3 sucked balls. Maybe this will be a nice change.

Tony Hawks used to be an awesome game when it was on N64. But back then anything impressed me.

I'll definately check this out, I've been looking for ages for a genuine skating experience, and THPS series seems to get further away from that every year. Skate may not be perfect, but at least it will give THPS series some competition rather that simply having a monopoly on the genre.

In Tony Hawk I use to make a skater with the lowest possible stats so it was a little more realistic. It looks like I won't have to do that any more. This games looks to be very promising and hopefully it lives up to all the expectations.
